凝縮部内への液体冷媒の進入を抑制するとともに、低コスト化および軽量化が可 能な沸騰冷却装置を提供する。 本発明の沸騰冷却装置は、液体冷媒を収容する収容部と、内部空間が収容部内と連通する連通室と、連通室の側方に突出した凝縮部と、を備える沸騰冷却装置であって、連通室は、凝縮部の開口に対向するとともに凝縮部の一端から離間して配置された板状部材で、且つ、上方に連通口を形成することで沸騰した液体冷媒を凝縮部の開口上部に誘導する誘導板を備え、凝縮部の内部空間には、一端側端部にのみインナーフィン(熱伝達部材)が配置されている。
Description
本発明は、冷媒を用いて発熱体を冷却する沸騰冷却装置に関するものである。
沸騰冷却装置は、液体冷媒が沸騰する際の潜熱を利用して発熱体を冷却する装置である。沸騰冷却装置は液体冷媒を収容する収容部を備える。この収容部において発熱体の熱により沸騰した冷媒(蒸気冷媒)は、凝縮部内に流入し、そこで熱交換されて凝縮される。凝縮した液体冷媒は、再び収容部に環流する。このような沸騰冷却装置は、例えば、特開平10-173115号公報(特許文献1)に記載されている。
ところで、凝縮部の凝縮性能は、液体冷媒が凝縮部内に進入すると低下する。したがって、凝縮部としては、液体冷媒の進入を抑制し、蒸気冷媒だけが流入することが好ましい。一方で、凝縮部の凝縮性能を維持しつつ、凝縮部の製造コスト低減および軽量化を実現することが求められている。
本発明は、このような事情に鑑みて為されたものであり、凝縮部内への液体冷媒の進入を抑制するとともに、低コスト化および軽量化が可能な沸騰冷却装置を提供することを目的とする。
本発明の沸騰冷却装置は、発熱体の熱を受けて沸騰する液体冷媒を収容する収容部と、前記収容部の上方に位置し、内部空間が前記収容部内と連通する連通室と、一端が開口を介して前記連通室内に通じ他端が閉塞された内部空間を形成し、前記連通室の側方に突出した凝縮部と、を備える沸騰冷却装置であって、前記連通室は、前記凝縮部の開口に対向するとともに前記凝縮部の前記一端から離間して配置された板状部材で、且つ、上方に連通口を形成することで前記沸騰した液体冷媒を前記凝縮部の開口上部に誘導する誘導板を備え、前記凝縮部の内部空間には、前記一端側端部にのみ熱伝達部材が配置されていることを特徴とする。
なお、「上方」や「上部」とは、沸騰冷却装置の使用時において、重力方向を基準とした方向を示すものとする。
本発明によれば、例えば沸騰により跳ねた液体冷媒が連通口を介して凝縮部に進入しようとした際、凝縮部の入口付近(一端側端部)に設けられた熱伝達部材が、当該液体冷媒の進入を妨げる。つまり、液体冷媒の凝縮部への進入は抑制される。また、入口付近に設けられた熱伝達部材と蒸気冷媒もしくは液体冷媒とが熱交換することにより、凝縮部の凝縮性能の維持が可能となる。さらに、凝縮部の内部空間において熱伝達部材が入口付近にのみ配置されているため、熱伝達部材の低コスト化および装置の軽量化が可能となる。
ここで、本発明において、前記熱伝達部材は、フィンであることが好ましい。熱伝達部材としてフィンを用いることで、凝縮部の入口付近において、フィンに付着した液体冷媒または蒸気冷媒とフィンとの間での効果的な熱交換が可能となる。
ここで、本発明において、前記熱伝達部材は、前記凝縮部の前記一端から前記他端に向かう方向に直交する壁面を有することが好ましい。前記壁面は、液体冷媒の凝縮部への進入を効果的に抑制することができる。
ここで、本発明において、前記連通室と前記凝縮部の間に隙間形成部をさらに備え、前記隙間形成部の内部空間は、前記連通室の内部空間と前記凝縮部の内部空間とに連通することが好ましい。この構成によれば、液体冷媒を、凝縮部に進入する前に隙間形成部の内部空間下方へ滴下させることができ、より効果的に液体冷媒の凝縮部への進入を抑制することができる。
本発明によれば、凝縮部内への液体冷媒の進入の抑制が可能になるとともに、製造コスト削減および軽量化が可能となる。
次に、好ましい実施形態を挙げ、図面を参照して本発明をより詳しく説明する。なお、図面表現上、インナーフィン53の波の数は、一部変更して表現されている。
<第一実施形態>
第一実施形態の沸騰冷却装置1は、図1および図2に示すように、収容部2と、連通室3と、隙間形成部4と、凝縮部5と、を備えている。収容部2は、金属容器Yの下方部分であって、内部に液体冷媒(例えば水、アルコール、フロン等)を収容している。金属容器Yは、内部が空洞で、略直方体形状に形成されている。つまり、収容部2は、上方が開口した有底筒状に形成されている。
第一実施形態の沸騰冷却装置1は、図1および図2に示すように、収容部2と、連通室3と、隙間形成部4と、凝縮部5と、を備えている。収容部2は、金属容器Yの下方部分であって、内部に液体冷媒(例えば水、アルコール、フロン等)を収容している。金属容器Yは、内部が空洞で、略直方体形状に形成されている。つまり、収容部2は、上方が開口した有底筒状に形成されている。
液体冷媒の液面は、沸騰冷却装置1停止時に、連通室3下部(あるいは収容部2上部)に位置している。収容部2の側壁の外面には発熱体Zが取り付けられている。収容部2の側壁は、発熱体Zの熱を収容部2内に伝達する。そして、収容部2の側壁と液体冷媒との間で熱交換が行われ、発熱体Zは冷却される。発熱体Zは、例えば半導体素子等を含んだパワーモジュール等である。なお、収容部2内には、発熱体Zが取り付けられた側壁に対向するように対向壁21が配置されている。これにより、熱交換に寄与する液体冷媒の通路が狭くなり、熱伝達率が向上する。
連通室3は、金属容器Yの残り部分(上方部分)であって、溜まった液体冷媒上部(液面の若干下方)から上方の部位である。連通室3の内部空間は、収容部2内と連通している。つまり、連通室3は、下方が開口した有底筒状に形成されている。連通室3は、側壁(図2右側壁)に開口が形成されている。連通室3は、開口および隙間形成部4の内部空間4aを介して、収容部2の内部空間と凝縮部5の内部空間51aとを連通させている。連通室3内には、蒸気冷媒を凝縮部5の内部空間51a上部に誘導する誘導板31が設けられている。誘導板31については後述する。
隙間形成部4は、略筒形状に形成されている。隙間形成部4は、連通室3の側壁から側方(図2右側)に突出している。隙間形成部4は、内部空間4aを有し、連通室3の内部空間と凝縮部5の内部空間51aとを連通させている。隙間形成部4の上壁41の側方への突出長さは、隙間形成部4の下壁42の側方への突出長さよりも小さい。つまり、隙間形成部4の側方端部は、下方に向かうほど側方(図2右側)に突出するように傾斜している。隙間形成部4の端部は連通室3の開口部位に嵌合されている。隙間形成部4は、ねじ止めにより金属容器Yに組み付けられている。
凝縮部5は、いわゆる熱交換器であって、進入した蒸気冷媒を凝縮する機能を有している。凝縮部5は、有底筒状に形成された複数の金属チューブ51と、アウターフィン52と、インナーフィン53と、を備えている。金属チューブ51の一端は開口し、金属チューブ51の他端は閉塞している。金属チューブ51は、上壁511、下壁512、側壁513、及び閉塞壁514を備えている。このように、金属チューブ51は、一端が隙間形成部4を介して連通室3に通じ他端が閉塞された内部空間51aを形成している。
金属チューブ51は、隙間形成部4の側方端部から側方且つ上方に向けて延伸している。金属チューブ51の一端(開口端)は、隙間形成部4に接続されている。金属チューブ51は、金属チューブ51の他端(閉塞端)が金属チューブ51の一端よりも上方に位置するように傾斜して配置されている。複数の金属チューブ51は、並列して延伸している。アウターフィン52は、金属チューブ51同士の間に配置されている。
インナーフィン53(「熱伝達部材」に相当する)は、図2および図3に示すように、波形のストレートフィンである。インナーフィン53は、金属チューブ51内に配置されている。インナーフィン53は、金属チューブ51の内部空間51aのうち、一端側端部(開口側端部)にのみ配置されている。
ここで、「内部空間51aの一端側端部」とは、金属チューブ51内の開口近傍の空間を意味する。この一端側端部は、金属チューブ51の延伸方向に所定の幅を有している。第一実施形態において、一端側端部の幅は、金属チューブ51延伸長さの1/20~1/10程度である。つまり、インナーフィン53は、金属チューブ51延伸長さの1/20~1/10程度の幅(前記延伸方向の長さ)を有し、金属チューブ51の一端から他端に向けて配置されている。
インナーフィン53は、金属チューブ51の上壁511から離間し且つ金属チューブ51の下壁512から離間して配置されている。インナーフィン53は、高さにおいて、インナーフィン53の上端が金属チューブ51開口端中央より若干上方で、インナーフィン53の下端が下壁512より若干上方となるように配置されている。つまり、インナーフィン53の上端と金属チューブ51の上壁511との離間距離は、インナーフィン53の下端と金属チューブ51の下壁512との離間距離よりも大きい。
インナーフィン53は、波形の頂部および端部が金属チューブ51の側壁513に当接していることで、上下方向に延びる小通路53aを形成している。インナーフィン53は、小通路53aが上下方向に延びるように配置されている。詳細には、小通路53aは、金属チューブ51の延伸方向および側壁対向方向の双方に直交する方向に延伸している。インナーフィン53は、金属チューブ51の両側壁513に当接している。インナーフィン53は、金属チューブ51の延伸方向に直交する壁面(小通路53aを区画する壁の一部)を有している。
ここで、誘導板31について説明する。誘導板31は、連通室3内の隙間形成部4側端部に配置されている。誘導板31は、図2および図4に示すように、連通室3の側壁のうち隙間形成部4と連通するための開口を形成している側壁3a(以下、「開口側壁3a」と称する)に形成されている。開口側壁3aは、矩形枠状に形成されている。誘導板31は、凝縮部5の開口に対向するように、開口側壁3aの下辺部位から上方に向けて突出している。
誘導板31の上端は、開口側壁3aの上辺部位から離間している。これにより、誘導板31の上方に収容部2内と隙間形成部4の内部空間4aとを連通させる連通口31aが形成される。誘導板31は、誘導板31の下端を除いて、開口側壁3aから離間している。つまり、図4に示すように、開口側壁3aの下辺部位と誘導板31とにより、略凸形状が形成されている。これにより、収容部2から上昇した蒸気冷媒は、誘導板31の上方を通過して、凝縮部5(金属チューブ51)の内部空間51a上部に誘導される。そして、凝縮部5で凝縮された液体冷媒は、誘導板31の両サイドを通過して、収容部2に環流する。
(作用効果)
沸騰冷却装置1によれば、収容部2内の液体冷媒が沸騰することにより液面から飛び跳ねて誘導板31を飛び越えることがあっても、隙間形成部4による内部空間4aが存在するため、液体冷媒が凝縮部5に到達することは抑制される。さらに、跳ねた液体冷媒が凝縮部5まで到達した場合も、金属チューブ51の一端側端部にインナーフィン53が配置されているため、インナーフィン53が液体冷媒進入に対する防壁の役割を果たす。つまり、液体冷媒が金属チューブ51内に進入することは抑制される。液体冷媒の凝縮部5への進入を抑制することで、凝縮性能低下の防止が可能となる。
沸騰冷却装置1によれば、収容部2内の液体冷媒が沸騰することにより液面から飛び跳ねて誘導板31を飛び越えることがあっても、隙間形成部4による内部空間4aが存在するため、液体冷媒が凝縮部5に到達することは抑制される。さらに、跳ねた液体冷媒が凝縮部5まで到達した場合も、金属チューブ51の一端側端部にインナーフィン53が配置されているため、インナーフィン53が液体冷媒進入に対する防壁の役割を果たす。つまり、液体冷媒が金属チューブ51内に進入することは抑制される。液体冷媒の凝縮部5への進入を抑制することで、凝縮性能低下の防止が可能となる。
さらに、液体冷媒の進入を防止する機能を有するインナーフィン53は、熱交換効率が良好な熱伝達部材である。したがって、蒸気冷媒やインナーフィン53に付着した液体冷媒と、インナーフィン53との間で、熱交換が行われる。これにより、本構成では、沸騰冷却装置1の冷却性能が低下することを防止することができる。
また、液体冷媒が金属チューブ51内に進入した場合でも、インナーフィン53が一定の幅を有しているため、液体冷媒は、何れかの小通路53aに滴下する。滴下した液体冷媒は、インナーフィン53と熱交換した後、あるいは直接、金属チューブ51の下壁512に滴下し、収容部2へ還流する。
このように、インナーフィン53は、液体冷媒の進入を防止する進入防止部材であるとともに、液体冷媒および蒸気冷媒と熱交換可能な熱伝達部材でもある。インナーフィン53は、金属チューブ51の一端側端部にのみ配置されているため、材料コストは小さく、さらに軽量化も可能となる。
なお、金属チューブ51の内部空間51a全体にインナーフィン53を配置した場合の冷却性能と第一実施形態の冷却性能は、理論上ほとんど差はない(Q=h×A×ΔT)。沸騰冷却装置で発生する熱量Qは、上限がほぼ決まっている。そして、熱伝達率hは、複数の金属チューブ51を用いる構成により、インナーフィン53がない状態でも大きな値となる。したがって、熱伝達に寄与する面積A(金属チューブ内周面、アウターフィンおよびインナーフィン)のうちインナーフィンの面積が小さくなったとしても、最大の熱量Q(上限値)を冷却するだけの性能は十分に発揮される。
ここで、金属チューブ51の一端側端部に配置される熱伝達部材(第一実施形態ではインナーフィン53)は、液体冷媒の凝縮部5(金属チューブ51)への進入を防止可能に一端側端部に設けられていればよい。つまり、本発明における「熱伝達部材」とは、開口に対して面積を持った、液体冷媒の凝縮部5への進入を防止可能な部材を意味している。
「進入防止可能」とは、熱伝達部材が金属チューブ51の開口に対し、投影図において、その開口面積の少なくとも3~4割程度を占めるように配置されていることを意味する。換言すると、熱伝達部材は、金属チューブ51の開口を、隙間形成部4側から金属チューブ51の閉塞壁514に向けて見た場合、当該開口内に占める熱伝達部材の割合が開口全体の3割以上となるように配置されている。したがって、液体冷媒の進入を実質的に抑制しえないもの(例えば、単なる1本の棒部材等)については、本発明の「熱伝達部材」には含まれない。なお、当該開口面積に対する熱伝達部材の割合は、本実施形態では5割
以上となっている。

また、金属チューブ51の一端側端部の幅は、金属チューブ51の一端から始まり、金属チューブ51延伸長さの1/5以下の位置で終わることが好ましく、さらには1/10以下の位置で終わることが好ましい。これにより、冷却性能を維持しつつ、さらなる低コスト化および軽量化が可能となる。
(変形態様)
金属チューブ51の一端側端部に配置される熱伝達部材は、上記インナーフィン53に限られない。例えば、図5に示すように、熱伝達部材は、複数のピンフィン530であってもよい。ピンフィン530は、棒状の金属であって、ピンフィン530の一端が金属チューブ51の一側壁513に当接し、ピンフィン530の他端が金属チューブ51の他側壁513に当接するように配置されている。
金属チューブ51の一端側端部に配置される熱伝達部材は、上記インナーフィン53に限られない。例えば、図5に示すように、熱伝達部材は、複数のピンフィン530であってもよい。ピンフィン530は、棒状の金属であって、ピンフィン530の一端が金属チューブ51の一側壁513に当接し、ピンフィン530の他端が金属チューブ51の他側壁513に当接するように配置されている。
ピンフィン530の設置は、公知技術(接着、溶接、または一体成形等)によって実現できる。複数のピンフィン530が金属チューブ51の一端側端部に配置されることにより、液体冷媒の進入の抑制が可能となり、さらに付着した液体冷媒とピンフィン530とで熱交換が可能となる。また、このピンフィン530は、投影図において1列目(左端)のピンフィンとピンフィンの間に2列目のピンフィンが位置するように、列ごとに上下にずらして配置しても良い。これにより、開口面積に対する熱伝達部材の割合が大きくなり、さらに液体冷媒の進入は抑制される。
同様に、熱伝達部材は、網状に形成された網状部材(メッシュ形状)(図示なし)であっても良い。網状部材であれば、金属チューブ51の開口全面を塞ぐように配置することができる。つまり、網状部材は、蒸気冷媒の通過を許可し、液体冷媒の凝縮部5への進入を抑制することができる。
また、インナーフィン53は、ルーバーフィンやオフセットフィンであっても良い。また、熱伝達部材は、複数の板状部材であっても良く、この場合、板表面が金属チューブ51の開口に対向するように、金属チューブ51の一端(開口端)から他端(閉塞端)に向かって並列配置されることが好ましい。また、凝縮部5の金属チューブ51は、内部空間51aを形成する金属容器(凝縮本体部)であれば足りる。
<第二実施形態>
第二実施形態の沸騰冷却装置10は、主に隙間形成部4を有していない点で第一実施形態と異なっている。その他の構成については、第一実施形態と同符号を付して説明を省略する。

沸騰冷却装置10は、図6に示すように、収容部2と、連通室3と、凝縮部5と、を備えている。連通室3は、収容部2の内部空間と凝縮部5の内部空間51aとを連通させている。第二実施形態における誘導板310は、連通室3内に配置されている。
誘導板310は、金属チューブ51の一端(開口端)から若干離間して配置されている。誘導板310は、高さにおいて、誘導板310の下端が凝縮部5の下端より下方で、誘導板310の上端が凝縮部5の開口中央となるように配置されている。誘導板310の側端部(図6手前および奥側の端部)は、連通室3の側面(図6手前および奥側の側面)に溶接等されている。
第二実施形態によれば、沸騰して飛び跳ねた液体冷媒は、誘導板310を飛び越えたとしても、インナーフィン53に付着し、金属チューブ51内の奥まで進入することができない。つまり、第二実施形態によれば、液体冷媒の凝縮部5内への進入を抑制することができる。このように、第二実施形態によっても、第一実施形態同様の効果が発揮される。ただし、第一実施形態は、隙間形成部4が形成されている分、第二実施形態よりも液進入防止機能が高く、より好適である。
また、誘導板310は、誘導板310の一部または全部が傾斜するように形成されてもよい。例えば、誘導板310は、誘導板310の上端が誘導板310の下端よりも凝縮部5側に位置するように配置されてもよい。この誘導板310によっても、蒸気冷媒は、凝縮部5の開口上部に誘導され、内部空間51a上部に流入する。また、第二実施形態は、誘導板310と対向壁21とが一体形成(例えば、1つの板部材)されている構成でも良い。

Claims (4)
- 発熱体の熱を受けて沸騰する液体冷媒を収容する収容部と、
前記収容部の上方に位置し、内部空間が前記収容部内と連通する連通室と、
一端が開口を介して前記連通室内に通じ他端が閉塞された内部空間を形成し、前記連通室の側方に突出した凝縮部と、
を備える沸騰冷却装置であって、
前記連通室は、前記凝縮部の開口に対向するとともに前記凝縮部の前記一端から離間して配置された板状部材で、且つ、上方に連通口を形成することで前記沸騰した液体冷媒を前記凝縮部の開口上部に誘導する誘導板を備え、
前記凝縮部の内部空間には、前記一端側端部にのみ熱伝達部材が配置されている沸騰冷却装置。 - 請求項1において、
前記熱伝達部材は、フィンである沸騰冷却装置。 - 請求項1または2において、
前記熱伝達部材は、前記凝縮部の前記一端から前記他端に向かう方向に直交する壁面を有する沸騰冷却装置。 - 請求項1~3のうちの一項において、
前記連通室と前記凝縮部の間に隙間形成部をさらに備え、
前記隙間形成部の内部空間は、前記連通室の内部空間と前記凝縮部の内部空間とに連通する沸騰冷却装置。
