Abstract

불필요한 에너지의 낭비를 최소화하고 더욱 편리하게 IPTV 또는 위성수신TV를 이용할 수 있도록 한 TV용 셋톱박스 전원 자동제어장치 및 그 방법이 개시된다. 개시된 TV용 셋톱박스 전원 자동제어장치는, 움직임을 감지하는 움직임 감지센서와; 전원 제어용 펌웨어가 내장된 데이터 저장장치와; 상기 데이터 저장장치에 저장된 전원 제어용 펌웨어를 추출하여 전원을 제어하되, 특정 버튼 및 전원 버튼의 눌러지는 상태나 시간과 상기 움직임 감지센서의 움직임 감지 결과를 기반으로 셋톱박스의 전원을 자동으로 제어하는 전원 제어기를 구비하고, 전원 온/대기모드 신호를 펌웨어로 분리하여 전원을 제어하며, 움직임 감지센서를 이용하여 전원 대기 상태에서 자동으로 전원을 켜줌으로써 사용자의 편의성을 향상시켜주게 된다.
