Abstract

The invention relates to a junction box for solar modules, which can be assembled using inexpensive protective diodes, such as axial diodes having a plastic housing, electronic circuit boards and/or other electronic components, and by means of which at the same time good cooling of said electronic components can be achieved. The junction box comprises a metal housing (1), in which protective diodes (5), electronic circuit boards and/or other electronic components are located and are arranged such that they emit a large proportion of the heat they generate during operation into the air in the interior of the junction box. At least one region of the housing is formed as an air-to-air heat exchanger, by virtue of the fact that said region is provided, for example, with internal cooling ribs (2.2) and external cooling ribs (2.1). Said heat exchanger allows a heat transmission from the air in the housing to the air surrounding the junction box.
