Description
Device for storing a defibrillator especially in a public facility and providing information about its use
Subject of the Invention
[001] The subject of the present invention is a device for storing a defibrillator especially in a public facility and providing information about its use.
Technical Problem
[002] A technical problem to be solved by the present invention is how to design such device for storing a defibrillator especially in a public facility and providing information about its use that will in the first place offer the anticipated climatic and energy conditions, to which a defibrillator must be exposed in order to be constantly ready for use, and in the second place allow its use only in justified circumstances and to known persons, wherein, when a need for its use is alarmed, professional assistance is established automatically first by phone or videophone and then also with experts in an ambulance.
Prior Art
[003] Heart attack is very common among people. As humans strive to reduce consequences of this disease, defibrillators are installed in many heavily populated cities in public facilities, such as pharmacies, health centres, hospitals, stores, banks, restaurants in order to reach an equal distribution of these machines. Defibrillators are placed in specially designed closed rooms accessible only by identified persons. When the machine is accessed, an immediate phone connection is established with emergency medical service and an ambulance is referred to the scene of the sufferer.
[004] A successful treatment of said disease is subjected the shortest time possible since the onset of the disease until the beginning and proper treatment with a defibrillator. Normally, first people who offer help are accidental bystanders, who cannot be expected to be properly trained. Based on that there is a need for a new device of this type that would provide a shorter time to the treatment with a defibrillator, offer
a higher level of training about the use of the device and will simultaneously be suitable for a simple and price efficient arrangement in public facilities.
Solution to the Technical Problem
[005] The described technical problem is solved by a device of the invention, which is characterised in that a display for public use is used as the basis, for instance a display as disclosed in WO/2006/049586 (Ogorevc Andraz), which needs the following for its proper operation: air-conditioned interior due to its screen and computer, connection to a power supply source, internet cable and/or wireless connection and phone cable and/or wireless connection. These are exactly the elements that a public defibrillator needs. Due to its nature, a display for public use is arranged in such public places that are accessible round the clock and in which a huge number of people are expected. It is therefore advantageous to adapt such a display for storing a defibrillator therein. Arranging and maintaining a defibrillator in such a public display is not only cheaper, the defibrillator moreover offers its applicability properties that contribute to the applicability of the defibrillator.
[006] A display per se provides a defibrillator with an air-conditioned climate in all weather conditions, it further offers its monitor or several monitors and its computer for training on demand and/or by a programme as well as for controlling the display for public use and the defibrillator arranged therein in all forms of their applications. A further important property of a display for public use, which is exploited in the operation of the defibrillator of the invention, is its permanent cable and/or wireless internet and hence audio-visual connection with emergency medical service. The fact is that persons who offer first aid are mostly non-professionals, so the display's internet connection offers these persons direct audio and visual information in order to get an immediate assistance in providing as efficient aid in a given moment as possible. Such concept is after all important in that displays for public use are always visible and accessible. The displays of this type upgraded with the device of the invention are foreseen to be marked with a new and original graphical design and at least locals of a certain city are acquainted with their locations. In the moment when a defibrillator is needed, it will be much more likely than today that at least one passer-by will know
about the nearest location of the defibrillator. This saves the time, which is of utter importance is offering first aid in case of heart attack. A further characteristic of the display comprising a defibrillator is in that the internet and power supply connection offer a more simple maintenance and control of the defibrillator, as the defibrillator is permanently connected to an energy supply and control connection. All defibrillators arranged within displays of the invention are constantly under supervision, which makes it possible that all potential deviations from the normal operation of each separate defibrillator are remedied in a considerably shorter time as they currently are and at lower costs.
[007] The invention will be described in more detail by way of an embodiment and the enclosed drawing, representing in
Fig. 1 perspective view of the device of the invention.
[008] A device for storing a defibrillator especially in a public facility and providing information about its use is configured in a manner that a display 1 for public use including an air-conditioned interior, at least one screen 2, a connection 3 to an electricity source, a connection 4 for a cable and/or wireless internet connection, and a connection 5 for a cable and/or wireless phone connection is provided with a closed room 6 for storing a defibrillator 7. The room 6 is closed with a door 8 equipped with a remotely controlled lock 9 openable remotely by an expert on duty. The device of the invention further comprises a communication assembly 10 for audio, visual and alphanumeric connection between a person who wishes to use the defibrillator 7 stored in the room 6 and an emergency medical service. The communication assembly 10 includes a keyboard 11 preferably protected against vandalism, a video camera 12, a microphone 13, a loudspeaker 14 and at least one further touch screen 15 that is preferably smaller than the main screen 2. The device of the invention further includes a computer 16 with all known and necessary peripherals. A memory unit 17 needs to be mentioned as a peripheral unit of the computer 16 as it stores among others information and educational material in audio and/or video format, wherein a user or an emergency medical service actuate said material to be displayed. Educational and information
materials from the memory unit 17 are available to the passers-by even without a previous connection with the emergency medical service. A passer-by can recall said materials via communication assembly 10 to the screen 2 or 15 and learn.
[009] Each device of such type has its own identification tag 18, by means of which the emergency medical service gets to learn about the location, from which a person seeks help via communication assembly 10 at any moment. If a person calls from his/her mobile phone, he/she is further identified.
[0010] The room 6 further houses an attachment 19 for connection of the defibrillator 7 and the condition of the defibrillator is thus constantly maintained and supervised to render it readily available.
[0011] The device of the invention is further configured and connected to a central supervision and management centre, so that after a rescue operation has been initiated based on a decision of an emergency medical person, an SMS text message is sent to wireless phones of all professionals who chose to be included in the list as being trained to offer first aid to the patient and are currently located in the vicinity of the person needing help. The SMS is sent on the basis of a triangulation procedure for each separate mobile phone. It is foreseen that each recipient of a text message should confirm via his/her mobile phone his/her preparedness to help. A selection of the contacted persons is done on the basis of their vicinity to the patient.
[0012] The described device of the invention can be further upgraded both in terms of hardware and software without circumventing the characteristics of the invention defined in the appended patent claims.
