Abstract

비디오 패킷 스트림을 전송하는 서버와 유무선망을 통해 연결된 클라이언트 장치에서 수행되는 무선망에서의 무선 채널 상태 추정 방법은 수신된 비디오 패킷에 대한 부가 정보를 이용하여 비트 에러율을 추정하는 단계와, 상기 추정된 비트 에러율을 이용하여 상기 무선망의 채널 용량을 추정하는 단계를 포함한다. 상기 부가 정보는 상기 클라이언트 장치에 연결된 무선망에 대한 무선망 정보, 변조 방식 정보 및 신호 세기 정보를 포함한다. 서버에서는 상기 추정된 무선망에서의 채널 용량 정보 또는 채널 상태 정보를 상기 클라이언트 장치로부터 피드백 받아서 무선망에서의 최적의 비디오 코딩 레이트 또는 최적의 소스 코딩 레이트를 조정한다. 따라서, 클라이언트 장치에서 실시간으로 수신되는 비디오 스트림의 화질 손실을 줄여 무선망을 통하여 수신되는 비디오의 수신 품질(QoS)을 향상시킬 수 있다.
