Abstract
Rolling mills are frequently subjected to recurring high overload demands in a quasi-periodical manner. The invention relates to a rolling mill drive comprising a synchronous machine which has a stator and a rotor, said rotor comprising a rotor winding (15) formed at least partially from a high-temperature super conductor. The drive motors require weaker rated powers and smaller sudden short-circuit currents and sudden short-circuit torque in the event of an error.
