Abstract

An apparatus is provided for mummifying three cadavers in a pressure chamber (1) using a shellac solution. Three storing shelves (7) are provided on top of each other and connected to the closing cover (6). The cover moves vertically by hydraulic pistons (3) and the chamber is locked by tension bolts (2).

Description

Description
APPARATUS FOR PRESERVING THREE CADAVERS BY SHELLAC SOLUTION
One patent was granted under title: Technique of Mummies
Processing by European Patent Office at 2009 for Yahya BEDIR EP1790222
Mummification is made by using shellac solved in ethanol
Invention idea is used now for preserving anatomical organs as an alternative of formalin.
The novel point is to produce system operated for both preserving cadavers and storing them inside after process is completed.
Optimizing criteria can be done by preserving three cadavers in the
Same chamber at three levels of shelve on each otheft
The amount of solution absorbed is not more than 10
Liters for each preserved cadaver while the amount needed for immersing body in solution is about 800 liters.
The quantity of solution required to immerse three cadavers in this chamber will not exceed 1400 Liters. 1000 Liters of solution and two single chambers can be saved to do the same work.
High air pressure must be applied on solution to insure complete preserving of cadavers mostly it is close to 3 bars.
Since shellac solution is acidic all parts of apparatus will be made from stainless steel.
Pressure tank is connected to storing tank through large capacity pump to fill/discharge tank within 3 min.
Storing shelves are fixed to cover of the chamber they move up and Down together with cover motion.
When cadavers are loaded under cover the total weight will insure better touch closing to rubber seal and prevent any air leakage. The internal air pressure for 3 bars value will generate thrust force on cover close to 40 tons, this force is equalized by 10 locks they are holding cover to chamber as tension bolts.
These tension bolts are fixed/ released by two hydraulic pistons under face plate of chamber.
Cover with connected shelves move up and down by two hydraulic pistons.
The horizontal levelling of cover is adjusted by two guide shaftss moving through two side channels.
Chamber has 4 chairs, two of them are fixed to plate under
Hydraulic pistons and other chairs holding side channels.
Processing of Apparatus:
When cover is open to maximum level, the lower level shelve is Loaded first, and cover moves down to enable loading the second Shelve, after that cover will move down one more step to load the third level shelve.
Finally cover moves down to closing case, once cover touchs face of chamber tension bolts are closed by hudraulic system.
After locking cover pump starts supplying infiltration solution to pressure tank till arrive to the specified level.
Next air supply is activated to keep chamber under 3 bars pressure
Chamber will remain under pressure for 9 HRS as requirement of preserving process.
When preserving period is completed air pressure will be released And solution is discharged back to storing tank, after that tension bolts are allowed to be on release case, and lifting pistons
Become free to move cover upside.
Chamber is designed to keep little amount of solution at bottom all Times, since shellac solution is made by ethanol, preserved
Cadaver will be hard if ethanol is evaporated from resin paste. dissecting becomes difficult if cadaver becomes hard.
It is advisable to keep cadavers inside chamber at end of each day the available solution in bottom of the chamber will keep cadavers soft enough for dissecting the next day.
