Abstract
A current generating set (1) which is especially designed as a range extender for an electrically powered motor vehicle, comprises an internal combustion engine (2), preferably a rotary piston engine, and specifically a rotary engine, and a generator which are both accommodated in a housing. The housing is designed such that the operating noise are acoustically decoupled from the surroundings, the housing having at least two parts (3a, 3b) that are detachably interconnected. The housing may especially comprise at least one set housing part (3a) and a cover housing part (3b), the cover housing part (3b) being designed for the detachable connection to the set housing part (3a).
