Description

A REINFORCEMENT STRIP FOR A TIRE
Field of the Invention The present invention relates to a reinforcement strip which is applied for the tire to be reinforced and which is woven with the textured yarns.
Background of the Invention Different weaving structures are used in obtaining the cord fabric present in the tires of the transport vehicles. The mechanical performances of the cord fabric made of plain wave, which is one of the said, are high whereas their flexibilities are not. It is not possible to use a tire cord fabric as a cap ply reinforcement strip just by cutting without any other process. Because after cutting the fabric, the weft yarns at the edge of the strips cannot hold onto the warp yarns at the edges of plain weave strongly. For this reason the warps at the edge of the strip slip from the edge and become unusable. The weft yarns in known cord fabrics are made of cotton, nylon, polyester, rayon or the mixture thereof. The said yarns are the yarns which are not treated with any mechanical or airy process such as texturing. The edge warps of the band reinforcement strips cut from the cord fabric made of these materials cannot hold onto the strip stably. Thus, the warps become loose from the edges and make the strip unusable. The texturing process can be realized as crimping, wimpling, kinking, braiding or a mixture thereof. Different techniques are used in achieving a reinforcement strip for tires. In of these techniques the lower and upper faces of the cord fabrics are calendered with rubber sheets under temperature. Then the said calendered cord fabric is cut into the strip in warp direction with knives. But this method is an extra step in terms of production process for tire manufacturers. In the state of the art, the reinforcement strips are obtained by cutting in strip widths with the method of ultrasonic shearing-off, without calendaring the lower and upper faces of the technical textile fabric with rubber. In this application, the warps at the edges of the strip that is used, loose their tensile and physical properties since the warps and wefts of the edge are cut by being melted. The strips which are obtained as a result of the said application are mostly used with the aim of wrapping the bead wire present in the tires.
In another state of the art, the cord yarns used in structure of cord fabrics are coated with rubber with extrusion coating method. After the extrusion coating process, the cord yarns are made into strips by being separated to desired warp number or in the desired warp width. The reinforcement strips are achieved by the strip widths being cut. The said application is high cost and the said cost is caused by the factors such as the need for producing a special yarn and labor.
The Japanese patent document no JP3137239, an application known in the state of the art, discloses use of wafts and warps, which have wide stretching range, have a plurality of parts with knots and twists, can be woven easily and which are textured, in tires. But the said application disclosed in the said patent document is not considered as it is related to reinforcement strip.
The Japanese patent document no JP 1020343, one of the applications known in the state of the art, discloses a tire reinforcing material which is made of polyester, textured, which is manufactured by using weft and warp yarns, and has high flexibility and strength. But the said application disclosed in the said patent document is also not considered as it is related to reinforcement strip.
The United States Patent document no US5609701, an application known in the state of the art, discloses a reinforcing fabric which is used in tires, textured and has multifilament warp yarns. The said material consisting nylon yarns and bias can extend on the tire. It does not require edge cutting and can easily be attached to the edge of the tire as well as it provides advantages such as low cost and good quality. But the said application disclosed in the said patent document is also not considered as it is related to reinforcement strip directly. Summary of the Invention
The objective of the present invention is to realize a reinforcement strip for a tire which is woven with textured yarns. A further objective of the present invention is to realize a reinforcement strip for a tire which prevents its warps become loose from the edges of the cut reinforcement strip
Another objective of the present invention is to realize a reinforcement strip for a tire which has high mechanic strength.
Detailed Description of the Invention
The reinforcement strip for a tire realized to fulfill the objective of the present invention is illustrated in the accompanying figures wherein,
Figure 1 is the enlarged view of the reinforcement strip the weft yarns of which are textured.
Figure 2- is the strip width view of the reinforcement strip the weft yarns of which are textured.
Figure 3 is the detail view of the reinforcement strip which is RFL coated (after dipping).
Figure 4 is the view of the reinforcement strip the warp yarns of which at the edges are textured, before the dipping .
Figure 5 is the view of the reinforcement strip the warp yarns of which at the edges are textured, after the finish. The components in the figures are individually numbered and the numbers refer to the following:
1- Textured yam
2- Untextured yam
3- Plain weave
4- Cord fabric
5- Reinforcement strip
The inventive reinforcement strip for a tire (5) is achieved from yam (1) at least one of which is textured and yam (2) at least one of which is untextured. At least one of the warp yams and/or weft yams in the cord fabric (4) woven from the plain weave (3) is untextured.
In one embodiment of the present invention, textured weft yams (1) are used in weaving of the plain woven cord fabric known in the state of the art. The said weave is woven by using the textured yam (1) which is at least one weft yam and untextured yam (2) which is at least one warp yam by being shifted. The said yams (1, 2) are woven such that it will be at least 5 wefts/dm and at most 50 wefts/dm.
In a further embodiment of the present invention the textured yam (1) can be the warp yam with the aim of weaving of the cord fabric. There are textured warps present on the parts corresponding the edges of the reinforcement strip (5) in this weave. The said warps prevent the strip from deformation by keeping the wefts which are woven thereon. The warp density is at least 50 warps/dm, 140 warps/dm at most.
The textured yam (1) used in the invention has thickness of at least 235 dtex and at most 2000 dtex. The textured yams (1) are made of synthetic or natural fiber, and its surface are and surface roughness are high. The yams the surface area of which is increased by being textured keep the bath liquid having an adhesive feature and provide better weave integrity. Also increasing the surface roughness of the yarns increases the friction of the yarns within the weave and makes it difficult to the yarns becoming loose. The cord fabric which is woven as plain weave (3) with the textured yarns (1) is dipped by being coated with the dip solution. Upon the liquid dries the cord fabric (4) is achieved. Finally the inventive reinforcement strip for a tire (5) is achieved by the said cord fabric (4) being cut. Model Applications
1. The cord fabric obtained with a plain weave is woven such that the warp density will be 100 warps/dm, the weft density will be 15 wefts/dm by using 1400-2dtex(2 fold) Nylon 66 warp yarns and lOOOdtex nylon 66 weft yarns which are textured in air jet texturing machine. The woven fabric was dipped once with RFL (resorcinol formaldehyde latex) adhesive dip solution and the RFL was dried on the cord fabric in the hot ovens. Finally the cord fabric was cut in strips with mechanical knives on the quality control table. 2. The cord fabric obtained with a plain weave was woven in a recurring structure of two textured warp and eight untextured warp yarns such that the warp density will be 100 warps/dm, the weft density will be 15 wefts/dm by using 1400 dtex (2 fold) Nylon 66 warp yarns, 1400 dtex Nylon 66 warp yarns textured in air jet texturing machine and untextured 475 dtex Nylon 66 weft yarns. The woven fabric was dipped once with RFL adhesive dip solution and the RFL was dried on the cord fabric by hot ovens. Finally the cord fabric was cut in strips with mechanical knives on the quality control table.
3. The cord fabric obtained with a plain weave was woven in a recurring structure of two textured warp, two untextured warp and eight untextured warp yarns one on another such that the warp density will be 100 warps/dm, the weft density will be 15 wefts/dm by using 1400 dtex Nylon 66 warp yarns, 1400 dtex Nylon 66 warp yarns textured in air jet texturing machine and untextured 475 dtex Nylon 66 weft yarns. The woven fabric was dipped once with RFL adhesive dip solution and the RFL was dried on the cord fabric by hot ovens. Finally the cord fabric was cut in strips with mechanical knives on the quality control table.
Within the scope of these basic concepts, it is possible to develop various embodiments of the inventive reinforcement strip. The invention can not be limited to the examples described herein and it is essentially according to the claims.
