Definitions
- the present invention generally relates to a container for potted plants. More particularly, it relates to a decorative self-watering planter.
- DE 299 16 691 U1 comprises an outer container, in which an intermediate base is inserted, which delimits a water storage space between itself and the base of the outer container. Plants can thus be supplied with water from this water storage space over a long period.
- An object of the present invention is to a container that addresses at least one of the above- mentioned needs.
- a container for a plant comprising:
- separator structure removably insertable into the liner structure, the separator structure defining a water storage space between the separator structure and a bottom of the liner structure;
- -a water level indicator system for indicating a level of water in the water storage space.
- Drain plugs Both the liner and the planter's drain plugs can be removed when used outdoors, allows to empty excess rainwater
- ⁇ Mineral-mix with fertilizer Provides nourishment and growth, aeration and optimal watering.

- Figures 7a and 7b are schematic and perspective views respectively illustrating a supply of water to the container and plant.
- Figure 8 is a top view of a planter structure and an offset structure at a bottom thereof according to another preferred embodiment of the present invention.
- a container 10 for a plant comprising an outer planter structure 12, an inner liner structure 14 removably insertable into the planter structure 12 and a separator structure 16 removably insertable into the liner structure 14, the separator structure 16 defining a water storage space 18 (better shown in Figure 7a) between the separator structure 16 and a bottom 20 of the liner structure 14.
- Water supply means 22 supply water to the water storage space 8.
- a water level indicator system 24 indicates a level of water in the water storage space 18.
- the conduit structure 22a is removable.
- An alternate embodiment of the conduit structure 22a is shown in Figure 6, with a removable conduit cover 22b.
- the separator structure 16 comprises an irrigation system for allowing flow of fluid between the water storage space 18 and a portion
- the water level indicator system 24 comprises a water level indicator window 32 on a sidewall of the liner structure 14 (shown in Figure 3) in register with a portion of the water storage space 18 (when the liner is inserted in the planter) and a planter window element 34 on a sidewall of the planter structure 12 in register with the water level indicator window 32 upon insertion of the liner structure 14 in the planter structure 12.
- the container comprises a removable liner drain plug 50 sealingly insertabie in a bottom aperture formed in a bottom portion of the liner structure.
- the container further comprises a removable planter drain plug sealingly insertabie in a bottom aperture formed in a bottom portion of the planter structure.
- the liner structure comprises deployable handles 52 configurable between a retracted configuration and a deployed configuration.
- the planter structure 12 comprises an offset structure 54 for separating a bottom surface of the liner structure from the bottom surface of the planter structure.
- the offset structure 54 comprises a plurality of tube elements removably positionable in bottom interior corners of the planter structure.
- the container according to the present invention can be combined with slow release fertilizers for eco-friendly maximum effect.
- Slow-release fertilizers work in conjunction with processes in the soil. Rather than a quick overdose, these products release nutrients over a period of time, even for several months. This means that nutrients supply plant roots with a sustainable diet instead of a binge buffet. The plants benefit from a consistent supply of the elements they need throughout their growth.
- slow-release fertilizers helps a garden and helps reduce water pollution. Unlike quick-release or fast-acting fertilizers, slow-release fertilizers are not water soluble. This quality plus the fact that nutrients are released in useful amounts means they are not washed away in stormwater runoff. Fertilizers, and other lawn and garden applications, that make their way into waterways can cause serious problems to wild animals, plants and ecosystems as well as pollute drinking water.
- Slow-release fertilizers can be activated by temperature, moisture, bacterial activity in the soil or pH.
- the nutrient release is a reaction to changing soil conditions. In this way there work with the natural plant growth processes.
