Description
DEVICE FOR PROTECTING AND STORING OF A SECURITY CASE
TECHNICAL FIELD
The present invention relates to a device for protecting and storing a security case. Furthermore, the invention relates to a system comprising at least one such device.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
When handling cash in today's society it is common that cash, for example in the form of bank notes and coins, are transported between different locations, such as for example from a store to a security depot, and from a security depot to a bank, or vice versa. Further, it is common that cash in the form of bank notes are stored in a security case or in a security cartridge during such transportations, for example when a so called security firm moves cash by means of security vehicles between different locations. It is well known that the risk for robbery is extensive during transportation of security cases or security cartridges as described above. Therefore, one or more security functions are built into the security case or security cartridge, such as for example GPS sensors for positioning of the device, built in color cartridges, etc. As mentioned above, to prevent and reduce the number of robberies, one or more color cartridges are often arranged inside a security case or a security cartridge, wherein they often are communicatively coupled to one or more different sensors and/or sensor systems. The object with sensors and/or sensor systems is to detect whether the security case or security cartridge is exposed to damage (for example hits), for example when a perpetrator/robber try to get access to the cash in the security case or security cartridge. If that is the case the color cartridges are activated which means that the cash in the form of bank notes are discolored and hence more or less unusable as payment means.
However, security cases or security cartridges according to prior art are relatively easy and fast to penetrate which means that the perpetrator/perpetrators will have access to the whole or part of the cash in usable condition, i.e. cash which have not been discolored by color cartridges.
This is due to the fact that it is usually a relation between the time period it takes to penetrate the security case or security cartridge and the amount of discolored cash in the security case or security cartridge when they are exposed to damage.
If cash is relatively easy to access when they transported in a security case or security cartridge the risk for robbery will be maintained or even increase during transportation of cash in security cases or security cartridges. In the following description the term "security case" will denote a security case or a security cartridge.
SUMMERY OF THE INVENTION
An object of the present invention is provided a device which increases protection of cash and other valuables in a security case. Another object of the invention is to provide improved protection of a security case. Furthermore, yet another object of the invention is to provide an alternative device for protection and storage of a security case.
According to an aspect of the invention the above mentioned objects are achieved with a device for protecting and storing a security case, wherein the device comprises a security shell having an inside and an outside, which security shell encloses a cavity, which cavity is arranged for containing the security case, wherein the cavity is connected with an opening in the security shell through which access to the cavity is provided for putting or taking out the security case; the device further comprises a locking arrangement for securing the security case in the cavity, wherein the locking arrangement is a locking device arranged inside the cavity and arranged to secure the security case in the cavity.
Different embodiments of the device above are defined in the appended dependent claims.
According to another aspect of the invention the above mentioned objects are achieved with a system comprising at least one device according to above and at least one security case.
With a device and a system according to the invention improved protection is provided for a security case since it is protected by a security shell. Further, the device comprises at least one
locking arrangement by means the security case is secured inside the cavity. Thereby, access to the security case is reduced which means that it will be more difficult to get access to the content in the security case. Further advantages and applications of a device and a system according to the invention will be apparent in the following detailed description.
SHORT DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
In the following detailed description of the present invention different embodiments of the invention will be described with reference to figures in which:
Fig. 1 shows schematically a cross section of an embodiment of the invention in front view;
Fig. 2 shows schematically a cross section of the embodiment in Fig. 1 in perspective view;
- Fig. 3a shows an edge side of the embodiment and Fig. 3b shows the embodiment seen in front view;

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
From the above, the inventor has through his inventive work realized that the security case 4 and/or security cartridge 4 need further protection by means of a device 1 according to the invention.
An advantage with such a device 1 is the time period it takes for a perpetrator to penetrate the security case 4, i.e. to get access to the content in the security case 4 is substantially increased, which for example means that a larger amount, or all cash will be discolored during a robbery. It also means that the risk for rubbery is substantially reduced since time is an important parameter in these types of crimes as if it takes longer time to get access to the content of the security case the attractiveness for these types of crimes will be substantially reduced among the criminals.
Fig. 1 shows a cross section of an embodiment of a device 1 according to the invention where a security case 1 is seen in front view and Fig. 2 shows the embodiment in Fig. 1 seen in perspective view. Further, Fig. 3a shows an edge side of the embodiment in Fig. 1, and Fig. 3b shows the embodiment in Fig. 1 seen in front view. Further, Fig. 4 shows an embodiment in Fig. 1 in view from above and Fig. 5 shows an embodiment without the security case seen in front view. It should be noted that the security shell shown in the figures comprises a whole covering piece and not of two assembled parts. However, such a design containing two or more parts is possible.
A device 1 for protecting and storing a security case according to the invention comprises a security shell 2, which encloses a cavity 3, i.e. an enclosure. Said cavity 3 is so arranged (with such forms, dimensions, etc.) that it is arranged for receiving a security case or security cartridge by preferably having such a shape so that a tight fit for the security case or security cartridge is provided. According to an embodiment the cavity 3 therefore has a shape which fully corresponds to the outer shape of the security case or the security cartridge.
Furthermore, the cavity 3 is connected to an opening 5 in the security shell 2 by which access to the cavity 3 is provided for putting or taking out the security case 4 from the cavity 3. Further, the device 1 comprises at least one locking arrangement 6 for securing the security case 4 in the cavity 3, wherein the locking arrangement 6 is a locking device 20.
With reference to fig. 1-5 the security shell 2 has an inside 30 and an outside 31, and furthermore an upper part 32 in which the opening 5 is arranged and a lower part 33 in which a base 34 is arranged. Furthermore, the security shell 2 is defined by a front side 35 and one to the front side 35 opposite back side 36, and a first edge side 37 and one to the first edge side 37 opposite second edge side 38.
According to the embodiment shown in Fig. 1 the device further comprises a device for blocking the opening 5, in this case slidably arranged for blocking the opening 5. The device for blocking 5, shown in the figures, comprises a first blocking part 10 and a second blocking part 11 which together, or each is arranged to take a first position in which the opening 56 is
blocked and a second position in which the opening 5 is not blocked. The expression "the opening is blocked" means that the security case 4 cannot be taken through the opening 5 when the opening 5 is blocked. According to the embodiment in the figures the blocking parts 10, 11 are slidably arranged on two rails 50 (however, only one in Fig. 1 and 2 is shown since only a cross section of the device is shown) so that they together, or each can take the first position or the second position. The blocking parts 10, 11 can according to an embodiment take the first position when they are moved against each other and take the second position when they are moved away from each other. Preferably, the rails 50 are arranged adjacent to the opening 5 and extends therefore at least in part along the opening 5. With this embodiment the security case 4 can advantageously be carried in its own handles as shown in Fig. 1.
To be able to operate the blocking parts 10, 1 1 so that they take the first or the second positions, the device for blocking comprises one to the first 10 and second blocking parts 11 associated first 12 and second elements 13, respectively, which are shown in Fig. 3a and 3b. These elements 12, 13 function as combined handles and key elements, and for fulfilling the function as a key, the elements 12, 13 has male organs each arranged to engage with a corresponding female organ arranged on the associated blocking part 10, 11 (or vice versa). Hence the blocking parts 10, 11 can be operated with the first 12 and the second 13 elements when the male organ has been engaged with the corresponding female organ. Locking of the blocking parts 10, 11 in any of its positions can be performed with known solutions such as locks and similar devices. Further, the elements 12, 13 are formed as handles so that they can be used when a device for blocking of the opening 5 shall be operated. The advantage with the above described embodiment is that the elements 12, 13 have a double function so as both function as a handle and a key. It should be noted that elements 12, 13 in this case are formed so that the device 1 shall be carried with these elements 12, 13. Further, it should be realized that the device for blocking only have to comprise one blocking part to achieve the same function as two or more blocking parts.
Furthermore, the device for blocking can be pivotably/rotatably arranged for blocking the opening 5. Preferably, the first blocking part is arranged to fully or in part block the opening 5
so that the security case inside the cavity 3 cannot be taken out through the opening 5 when the first blocking part takes a specific position by pivoting/rotating the same. For example the first blocking part can be pivotably/rotatably journalled/hinged at the device 1, for example on its security shell 2. A pivotable movement can be performed substantially parallel or perpendicular to the plane of the opening 5 for blocking the same, but for a pivotable movement it should be so performed such that the first blocking parts is not prevented in its rotational movement by any other part of the device 1. The device for blocking can further both be slidably and pivotable/rotatably arranged for blocking the opening 5, for example so that the first blocking part is pivotably journalled and slidably arranged at a rail element according to above. According to a further embodiment of the invention the device for blocking comprises, needleless if it is a slidable solution or a pivotable solution, one or more locking means for securing the device for blocking into one of its positions when the opening 5 is blocked. The locking device 20 comprises, according to another embodiment of the invention, at least one male element arranged to engage with a corresponding female element arranged at the security case 4, which is shown in Fig. 1, 2 and 5. According to this embodiment, the locking device 20 is further arranged to be operated from the upper part 32 of the device 1 by means of at least one key means which is inserted into a lock 60.
Securing of the security case 4 by means of the locking means 20 can be performed with known designs, for example the male element is controlled by a pivotable axis A operated with the key organ so that the pivotable element is inserted into a groove in the security case 4. Alternatively, the security case 4 can be secured at the security shell 2 with a slidable rod which is pushed into the security case 4 for securing.
It should be realized from the above description that the embodiment shown in the figures comprises both a device for blocking and a locking device. Thereby, even a higher level of security is provided since the device for securing and protecting 1 comprise two separate locking arrangements 6 by which the security case 4 is secured in the cavity 3.
To further protect the security case 4 and make access to the content in the security case difficult, the locking device comprise at least one to the key means corresponding locking means 60 which is arranged adjacent to the opening 5 of the security shell 2 as shown in Fig. 2. The locking means 60 is blocked when the first blocking part 10 and/or the second blocking part 11 takes the first position, whereby hindering access to the locking means 60. Thereby access to the security case 4 is reduced when it is stored in the device 1.
As realized by the skilled person, the security shell 2 is made of a suitable material for protection of the security case or, there is a material suitably is mechanically tough when it is exposed to damages and possible durable against chemicals, etc. Examples of suitable materials are for example steel or aluminum sheet, or reinforced polymer material, such as aramide fibre reinforced epoxy or similar materials.
The inventor has also through his inventive work further realized that the security shell 2 can have such a shape so that the device 1 is unstable on a substantial plain surface, for example by having a substantial convex shape. According to another embodiment of the invention the device 1 comprises at least one elevation 40 on the outside of the security shell 2 for this purpose. According to another embodiment, the front side 35 and the back side 36 of the security shell 2 comprises at least one elevation 40 each, but can also comprises a plurality of elevations each. Preferably, the elevation/elevations have a convex shape but may also have other suitable shapes with the same function, such as a shape of a cross.
