Abstract
A method is described of a device (2) for a starter motor (5) for starting an internal combustion engine (30), in particular of a vehicle, for limiting an operating range of the starter motor (5) within predefined physical limits, wherein the electrical current (I30) of the starter motor (5) is detected by a detection device (10) in the device (2). The invention also relates to a device for allowing a voltage drop in the on-board power supply of a motor vehicle to appear imperceptible for the operation of conventional loads during stop/start operation. According to the invention, electrical variables of the starter motor (5) are measured when current is applied, characteristic reference values are formed from the electrical variables, and when the characteristic reference values are above a critical reference value, it is deduced therefrom that the internal combustion engine (30) has started and the current is no longer applied.
