Abstract

The invention relates to a pack, in particular a cigarette pack comprising edges (2) that are formed between lateral surfaces (1) of the pack, at least one said edge (2) having at least one first region (2a) and at least one second region (2b). Two lateral surfaces (1) directly adjoin each other in the first region (2a), and the lateral surfaces (1) enclose a transition surface (3) in the second region (2b). The invention further relates to a method for producing such a pack, the pack material being chamfered by means of a chamfering tool (8) with two chamfer lines (9a, 9b) which run next to each other, which are parallel in some sections in particular, and which converge into one chamfer line (9c).

Description

CIGARETTE PACK WITH PARTICULARLY STUFFED EDGES

The invention relates to a pack, in particular a cigarette pack, in which at least one pack edge has a first region, in which the pack edge is not chamfered, and a second region, in which the pack edge is chamfered. The invention further relates to a method for producing such a package.

Cigarette packs are known from the prior art whose longitudinal edges are chamfered or rounded. Seen in cross-section, therefore, the corners of the pack are chamfered or rounded, so that the side surfaces of the pack, although a right angle, but not at right angles to each other. Such packaged with bevelled or rounded edges packages have not least because of their external appearance, a large acceptance by the customer. However, when using the same materials, such as paperboard of the same thickness, adhesive, or adhesive application, these packs are less stable than conventional cigarette packs with "sharp" defined edges.

The present invention is therefore based on the object to provide a cigarette pack, which despite its attractive appearance with bevelled edges has a high stability. Also, a method for producing such a cigarette pack is to be provided.

This object is solved by the subject-matter of independent claims 1 and 10, the dependent claims defining preferred embodiments of the present invention. However, it is readily conceivable to use the package according to the invention in other areas of packaging technology, where an attractive appearance together with a high stability of a package is desired.

The cigarette packet according to the invention has edges formed between side surfaces of the package, wherein at least one edge has at least one first region and at least one second region, wherein in the first region two side surfaces adjoin one another directly and in the second region the side surfaces enclose a transitional surface.

In other words, at least one edge of the pack, which is arranged between two adjoining side surfaces, has at least one first region and at least one second region. In the first region, the edge is not chamfered, so that the two adjacent side surfaces directly touch, while in the second region chamfering of the edge is formed, so that the adjacent side surfaces do not touch directly, but merge into one another via the chamfer or transition surface. It is possible in principle that any number of first regions and any number of second regions are formed on a packing edge. Also, if several edges have first and second regions, the first / second regions need not be symmetrical, ie be formed at the same locations of the edges, but different positions of the first and second regions on different edges are also conceivable.

According to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the packing has a substantially rectangular cross-section. If the cross-section is laid through a chamfered part of the package, this can no longer have an exact rectangular cross-section, but the chamfers or the rounded corners should be neglected in the cross section in the definition of the cross section as rectangular. In a particularly preferred embodiment, the package according to the invention has an elongated cuboidal shape with twelve edges, wherein at least one of the four longitudinal edges, in particular all four Longitudinal edges at least a first region and at least a second region / have. The longitudinal edges here are the longest edges of the elongated cuboid cigarette packet. However, it is also conceivable that other, different from the longitudinal edges edges include first and second areas without or with chamfer. However, the individual second regions or chamfers can also have different lengths at different edges and occupy different positions.

According to another preferred embodiment of the present invention, a second region or chamfer extends to one end of an edge of the package. Thus, the edge end, in the case of a longitudinal edge, the head or foot end of the longitudinal edge on a second region with a chamfer, so that the edge ends with a chamfer.

However, the stability of the package is particularly enhanced if both ends of the edge, in the case of a longitudinal edge of the head and the foot end with a first area without chamfer. The corresponding corners of the package thus have three 90 ° angles on the adjacent side surfaces and are similar to the corners of a conventional cigarette packet without chamfering.

In a further preferred embodiment of the present invention, the cigarette packet has a lid and a packaging body of conventional type, wherein at least one longitudinal edge has a second region with a chamfer extending over the lid and the package body, so that the location on which package body and lid abut each other, having a chamfer. Furthermore, according to a further preferred embodiment, only a part of a longitudinal edge may have a chamfer, while the longitudinal edge part lying on the lid has no chamfering. In order to preserve the material of the cigarette packet according to the invention during folding, however, a continuous transition between the first and the second region on the edge is preferable, wherein the second region can taper with chamfering to the first region, i. the width of the chamfer in the second region decreases towards the first region.

Particularly preferred in this case is a transition in which the edges formed between the transition surface / chamfer and the side surfaces describe a spline curve which is particularly gentle on the material of the cigarette packet. In particular, it has proved to be advantageous if the width of the transition surface / chamfer to the length of the transition is in the range of 0.2 to 2.

Up to this point, the transition area of the second area has always been referred to as a chamfer, which is of course designed with a single surface and encloses a 45 ° angle with the mutually perpendicular and adjacent to the transition surface / chamfer side surfaces. However, one could also imagine that, instead of the chamfer, a facet-shaped transition having a plurality of partial surfaces and transitional edges extending parallel to the longitudinal edge is formed in the second region. Such a faceted transition is "softer" than a 45 ° bevel. It is also conceivable that instead of the bevel a "rounded" transition without edges in the second area is formed. Another aspect of the present invention relates to a method of making a package as described above. A chamfer between two side surfaces of the pack is obtained more or less automatically when, in addition to a simple grooving, on which the packing material is bent, two parallel grooves are incorporated into the packaging material to be processed.
