Abstract
The invention relates to a method for sealing leaks or for closing openings on media-conducting structures (10), in particular in the on-shore and off-shore fields, by introducing a curing material. In order to be able to seal media that leak under pressure, such as crude oil, in the event of a leakage opening (4), monomeric or partially polymerized compounds in the nascent state are in part injected into or in the vicinity of the leakage opening (4) and form a bond with the leaking structure (10) and/or with other structure-reinforcing means. The development of polymer particles (9) generates a polymer film (13) which seals even smaller leakage openings (4). If larger leakage openings (4) must be sealed, sealing can be achieved by gradually closing a capturing structure, such as a net (11), wherein the polymer particles (9) gradually close the mesh of the net (11).
