Abstract

The breakwater makes it possible to withstand waves of greater intensity without increasing the number or dimensions of the piles that make up a conventional breakwater. It includes a chain of floating panels (3) made up of floating elements (5) supported by frames (4) secured and guided in piles (2-2') with freedom of upward and downward movement. To this end, it comprises at least a front line (1) of piles (2) and a rear line (1') of piles (2'), the floating panels (3) being secured to the latter, the piles (2-2') of the two lines (1-1') being rigidly secured to one another by means of connection elements. Preferably, the piles (2-2') of the two lines (1-1') are connected by intermediate beams (9) joined to the free bases of pairs of facing piles (2-2'), said intermediate beams (9) preferably having a T-section.
