DESCRIPTION
PROFILE FIXING ACCESSORY AND SYSTEM FOR FIXING PROFILES
USING SAID ACCESSORY
OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
The present invention refers to an accessory for fixing profiles, as well as to a profile fixing system using the aforementioned accessory for use in profiles for floors, walls and fake ceilings, or other plans based on a continuous repetition of similar profiles, which does not need fasteners such as nails, screws or rivets to attach the main profile or the fixing accessory to the mounting base.
STATE OF THE ART
Due to the common use of profiles for covering surfaces, there are already various types of profiles and fixing systems described in the prior art. Some examples of documents that describe these fixing systems are listed below.
Patent JP 2004218313 refers to a system for fixing a main profile to a settlement profile using a fixture. The main difference, clearly evident regarding the present invention, is the need to use a fixing system in order to unite the main profiles fixing accessory to the settlement profile. In this particular case a screw is used as fixing element.
Patent JP 2006063747 also describes a system for fixing a main profile to a settlement profile using a fixing accessory. This system, as the system described above, also needs a screw to unite the fixing accessory to the settlement profile. Due to its installation method, the main profile modules will present a relatively large distance from each other.
Patent JP 2007218036 also refers a system similar to the two above described that uses a screw to attach the fixing support to the base profile. This system, like the system of the present invention, allows the rotation of the main profile in relation to the settlement profile; however this operation is rather more complex than in the present invention.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The present invention refers to an accessory for fixing profiles, as well as to a profile fixing system using the aforementioned accessory for use in floors, walls, fake ceilings, or other plans based on a continuous repetition of similar profiles, which does not need fasteners such as nails, screws or rivets to attach the main profile or the fixing accessory to the mounting base .
The system of the present invention is composed of two profiles, the mounting base and the main profile, which is the profile that is visible to the user, and also comprises a fixing accessory.
In this system the fixation of the main profiles to the settlement profile is made by an accessory that does not require fastening elements, such as screws, nails, rivets or others, to the referred profiles. This feature presents great advantages regarding the system mounting required time, since it eliminates the task of bolting, nailing, riveting or other equivalent tasks. In addition, the element that will allow the fixing of the main profile to the settlement profile is hidden when it is installed presenting a great improvement in the aesthetics of the set.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The present invention refers to an accessory for fixing profiles, as well as to a profile fixing system using the aforementioned accessory for use in floors, walls, fake ceilings, or other plans based on a continuous repetition of similar profiles, which does not need fasteners such as nails, screws or rivets to attach the main profile or the fixing accessory to the mounting base .
The referred system is composed of two profiles, the mounting base (1) and the main profile (2) , which is the profile that is visible to the user, and also includes a fixing accessory (3) .
The great innovation of the system of the present invention is that the fixation of the main profiles (2) to the settlement profile (1) is made by an accessory (3) that does not require any other fastening element.
In order to facilitate the understanding of the present invention the explanation of the systems installation method will follow.
The first step is the initial fixation of the main profile. This first fixing must be accomplished by screwing, nailing or using a specific accessory for starting, in order to ensure a rigid fixation between the base profile and the first main profile. This is the only point where it is necessary to use a connection accessory besides the fixing accessory (3) to connect the main profile (2) to the settlement profile (1) .
Then, the fixing accessory (3) should be fitted in the base profile (1) by inserting the accessory (3) in the base profile (1) and performing a rotational movement of the fixing accessory (3) to ensure its connection to the settlement profile (1) . The fixing accessory (3) should then be fitted to the main profile (2) by exerting a certain pressure or by hammering it against the main profile (2) . As the fixing accessory (3) has lock fit flaps in a V shape and is smaller than the gap between the two profiles, the flaps make a spring effect ensuring a constant pressure between the two profiles, thus ensuring an effective fixation between two adjacent modules of the main profile.
After fitting the accessory to the first main profile, the second profile is then fitted in the first accessory by pressing or hammering it against the
accessory. The aforementioned steps are then repeated until the desired size is reached.
In addition to the aforementioned, the present system also presents the feature of allowing various angles between the base profile and the main profiles, always assuring an effective fixation between both profiles. This feature is due to the fact that the accessory is round in the fitting area with the base profile, which means that regardless of the angle in which it is placed towards the profile, it is fitted to it, which, along with the fact that a small rotation of the accessory is able to guarantee the overlap of the base profile flaps to the accessory flaps, ensures that the system works between 20 and 160 degrees.
It follows a detailed description of the figures in which the profile and profile fixing system of the present invention are presented in order to provide a better understanding of it. Said description should be considered as illustrative and not limitative of the scope of the present invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
Figure 1 is a representation of the main profile (2) placed over the settlement profile (1) . This figure also represents the starting fixation of the main profile (2) that, as mentioned above, should be made by screwing, nailing or using a specific starting accessory that
ensures a rigid fixation between the base profile (1) and the first main profile (2) .
Figure 2 represents the first stage of the placement of the fixing accessory (3) on the settlement profile (1) ·
In Figure 3 it is represented the rotation movement of the fixing accessory in the settlement profile. The represented movement ensures its union with the settlement profile (1) .
In Figure 4 is shown the fitting of the fixing accessory (3) in the main profile (2) . This fitting is guaranteed by exerting a certain pressure or hammering it against the main profile (2) .
Figure 5 is a representation of the fitting of the second main profile (2) in the first accessory (3) by pressing or hammering it against the accessory (3) .
Figure 6 shows an example of the ability of rotation of the main profile (2) over the settlement profile (1) due to the fixing accessory (3) . As already mentioned the system allows various angles between the base profile (1) and the main profiles (2) , assuring an effective fixation between the two. This feature is due to the fact that the accessory is round in the fitting area with the base profile, which means that regardless of the angle in which it is placed towards the profile, it is fitted to it, which, along with the fact that a small rotation of
the accessory is able to guarantee the overlap of the base profile flaps to the accessory flaps, ensures that the system works between 20 and 160 degrees.
Figure 7 shows a sectional representation of the fixing accessory connecting two modules of the main profile. As it can be seen the fixing accessory (3) has lock fit flaps in a V shape configuration that ensures a constant tension between the profiles. The accessory is also smaller than the gap between the two profiles, which causes the flaps to make a spring effect, ensuring a constant pressure between the two profiles, thus ensuring their fixation. Besides the fitting described above, the accessory can be screwed to the base profile, since it has a hole for that purpose, as shown in this figure. Said hole provides the cavity for the screw head above the V shaped flaps, which presents the advantage that the thickness of the accessory in the zone bellow the flaps is just that corresponding to the diameter of the screw thread, allowing therefore a smaller gap of the main profiles than if the screw head had to pass between them.
Figure 8 is a sectional representation of the fitting of the fixing accessory (3) to the settlement profile (1) .
Figure 9 is a representation of the fixing accessory (3) of the present invention in detail.
