Abstract

The invention relates to a circuit for a battery which has a number n of battery cells (10-1,..., 10-n) and comprises a discharge element (30), a plurality of switches (20-1,..., 20-n+1; 25-1, 25-2) and a control unit. Said control unit is designed for connecting in a selectively conductive manner one of the n battery cells (10-1,..., 10-n) to the discharge element (30). According to the invention, the circuit comprises a current measuring unit (40) which is connected in series to the discharge element (30). Said control unit is embodied to connect a first selected battery cell of the n battery cells to the discharge element during a first time period, and to disconnect said discharge element at a switching time point and to connect a selected second battery cell of the n battery cells to the discharge element during a second period of time directly following the switching time point. Said current measuring unit is also configured to indicate the switching time point of the control unit when the measured current is less than the switching current threshold value.
