Abstract

The character input method of the present invention involves inputting letters via a keypad displayed on a touch screen, and comprises: a first step of displaying, on the touch screen, a keypad having two or more consonant buttons to which consonants are allocated; a second step of outputting, on an inputted character display window, the consonant allocated to the consonant button when any consonant button is touched; and a third step of selecting different vowels in accordance with a dragging direction or a pressing direction and outputting the selected vowels on the inputted character display window, when a dragging signal or a pressing signal for pressing the consonant button in the direction along the surface of the touch screen is applied to the consonant button. The character input method, the character input apparatus and a recording medium in which a program for implementing the character input method is recorded, according to the present invention, can reduce a plurality of vowel buttons into a single vowel button, or even eliminate the necessity of vowel buttons, thereby enlarging the space occupied by the consonant buttons, and enabling easy vowel input, thus enabling character input to be performed in a convenient and accurate manner.
