Abstract
The present invention relates to an electrochemical cell having a gas-permeable membrane, wherein the size of the electrochemical cell, such as a battery or a capacitor, is reduced, and the reliability and safety of the electrochemical cell are improved. A case of the electrochemical cell has one or more holes in communication with the outside, the gas-permeable membrane is arranged to cover the holes, and a lower support plate having a hole is arranged on top of the gas-permeable membrane. Thus, gas generated inside the electrochemical cell is smoothly discharged through the gas-permeable membrane, and simultaneously, moisture, which is harmful to the electrochemical cell, or contaminants are prevented from entering the electrochemical cell from the outside through the gas-permeable membrane, to thereby increase the reliability and improve the safety of the electrochemical cell.
