Abstract

The invention relates to a battery (3, 46), comprising several cells (4, 18, 19), preferably lithium ion cells, and an outer housing (7, 11, 51), wherein several combined cells (4, 18, 19) form a module (8, 52) and the modules (8, 52) are arranged in series, wherein the modules (8, 52) of the cells (4, 18, 19) are arranged in the outer housing (7, 11, 51), connected by the module housing (9, 29, 31) such as to be able to separate from each other in the case of accident and each module housing (9, 29, 31) for a module (8) forms a first structure (10) with shock-absorbing action in the case of accident and several module housings (9, 29, 31) are fixed in the outer housing (7, 11, 51).
