Description
DOUBLE WALLED PACKAGE WITH LEAFLET
The present invention concerns a packaging for medicines and other items whereby an instruction leaflet is desirable or required.
When talking of a packaging for medicines and the like, here and below, we refer to the box or the like in which the actual medicines and the instruction leaflet are usually provided.
It is customary for the actual medicines in this packaging to be provided in a storage packaging such as the known strips, glass bottles or vials made of plastic.
It is known that in the packaging for medicines, apart from the actual medicines, also an instruction leaflet is usually provided.
Such an instruction leaflet often consists of a very compactly folded piece of printed paper which is put in the box together with the actual medicines. The problem is that, when taking out the medicines, the instruction leaflet must often be taken out of the box as well .
If the user wishes to consult the instruction leaflet, he must unfold the instruction leaflet.
In order to make sure that the instruction leaflet does not get lost, the user must fold the instruction leaflet again afterwards and put it back in the packaging together with what's left of the medicines.
This folding should be done very accurately in order to make sure that the instruction leaflet fits in the packaging again together with the medicines. Moreover, it is often required to provide the instruction leaflet in an appropriate manner round the strips containing the medicines in order to make the whole fit in the box again. All this has for a result that the instruction leaflet is often not put back in the packaging, with all the entailing risks .
The present invention aims to provide a packaging for medicines and other items whereby an instruction leaflet is desirable or required, excluding one or several of the above-mentioned and other disadvantages.
To this end, the invention consists of a packaging for medicines or other items whereby an instruction leaflet is desirable or required, which packaging mainly consists of a box with fixed walls and at least one closing flap via which the inner space of the packaging is accessible for the removal or introduction of medicines or other items, whereby at least one of the fixed walls or at least one of one or more closing flaps is at least partly double-walled, but whereby the space between the double wall or flap is
accessible for the removal or introduction of an instruction leaflet.
The packaging according to the invention is advantageous in that the instruction leaflet can be taken out and put back again, irrespective of the removal or introduction of the medicines .
Since both actions, i.e. the removal or introduction of the medicines on the one hand, and the removal or introduction of the instruction leaflet on the other hand, can be completed independently from one another, things are seriously simplified. The most outer wall of a double fixed wall or double closing flap according to the invention can be connected in various ways to the other parts of the packaging.
For simplicity's sake, the aforesaid most outer wall is further also called the instruction leaflet flap.
For simplicity's sake, the complementary, most inner wall is further also called the instruction leaflet support. According to a preferred embodiment, the instruction leaflet flap has a shape and peripheral edge which mainly correspond to the shape and peripheral edge of the instruction leaflet support. The instruction leaflet flap can be connected in a fixed or detachable manner to the instruction leaflet support at two
opposite side edges, at two leaning side edges, at three leaning edges or in any other appropriate manner.
The detachable attachment can be obtained by providing two appropriate cuts in the instruction leaflet support, for example with a bent or rectangular U-shape, such that a lip can be obtained behind which the instruction leaflet flap can be led. In the case of the detachable attachment, the instruction leaflet can be connected to the instruction leaflet support as well as to the instruction leaflet flap, such that folding following a consultation is considerably simplified .
In order to better explain the characteristics according to the invention, the following preferred embodiments are described as an example only without being limitative in any way, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: figure 1 shows a packaging according to the invention, seen in perspective;
figures 2 and 3 represent an alternative packaging according to the invention, seen in perspective but in different states of use;
figure 4 shows another alternative packaging according to the invention, seen in perspective. Figure 1 shows a packaging 1 according to the invention which mainly consists of a box with fixed walls 2 and with, in this case, one closing flap 3 via which the space of the
packaging containing the item is accessible for removing or introducing the medicines or other items.
One of the fixed walls 2, in this case the fixed wall 2 situated on top in figure 1, is a double wall.
The most outer wall 2A of this double fixed wall 2, also called the instruction leaflet flap 2A, is fixed to the packaging 1 at two opposite side edges 4 and 5, in this case the shortest side edges of the predominantly rectangular instruction leaflet flap 2A.
The complementary most inner wall 2B of this double fixed wall 2 is also called the instruction leaflet support 2B below.
The working of the packaging 1 as represented in figure 1 is simple and as follows. The space 6 between the instruction leaflet flap 2A and the instruction leaflet support 2B is freely accessible via the openings at the two opposite side edges 7 and 8 of the instruction leaflet flap 2A which are not connected to the instruction leaflet support 2B.
The instruction leaflet 9 can be easily removed from this space 6 and introduced in said space 6 again, in a folded way, after its consultation. To be sure, the folding requires some attention, but the requirements are not so stringent as in the case of the existing packagings whereby the instruction leaflet and the
medicines or other items must be introduced together in the space of the box containing the items.
As there is no interference with the item, this additionally simplifies the storage since the item must not be removed to be introduced again later together with the instruction leaflet 9.
It is clear that also three side edges of the instruction leaflet flap 2A could be fixed to the instruction leaflet support 2B.
It is also clear that the dimensions and shape of the instruction leaflet flap 2A must not correspond to the dimensions and shape of the instruction leaflet support 2B.
Moreover, the instruction leaflet flap 2A must not necessarily be connected to the instruction leaflet support 2B. It can also be connected to other walls 2 and/or to one or several closing flaps 3.
Figures 2 and 3 represent a second preferred embodiment of a packaging 1 according to the invention. This variant differs from the above-described packaging 1 as represented in figure 1 in that the instruction leaflet flap 2A is provided on the instruction leaflet support 2B in a detachable manner. The instruction leaflet 9 is folded according to an appropriate folding plan whereby the instruction leaflet 9 is divided in facets 10 whose shape and dimensions are
somewhat smaller in this case than the instruction leaflet support 2B.
One of the facets 10 is fixed, in this case by means of gluing, on the instruction leaflet support 2B, and another facet 10 is fixed to the instruction leaflet flap 2A.
The detachable attachment is obtained by means of two appropriate cuts 11 and 12 in this case, with a bent U- shape, provided in the instruction leaflet support 2B, such that each cut 11 and 12 provides for a lip 13 and 14 behind which the instruction leaflet flap 2A can be led.
The instruction leaflet flap 2A is made of a cardboard in this case whose characteristics are sufficient to protect the instruction leaflet against any damages, to permanently fix the detachable attachment behind the lips 13 and 14 as long as the user does not carry out any action as referred to, and to print the instruction leaflet flap on its visible side.
The working of the packaging 1 as represented in figures 2 and 3 is simple and as follows. Starting from the folded and stored instruction leaflet 9 as represented in figure 2, the user may consult the instruction leaflet 9 by manipulating the instruction leaflet flap 2A, for example by pressing it together, whereby the opposite edges 4 and 5 are moved towards one another.
As soon as the instruction leaflet flap 2A is released, i.e. the edges 4 and 5 become entirely visible from behind the lips 13 and 14, the instruction leaflet flap 2A can be freely removed from the instruction leaflet support 2B, and the instruction leaflet 9 is thus unfolded.
Storing the instruction leaflet 9 demands significantly less attention since the folding leaves will guide the user .
Moreover, the instruction leaflet flap 2A and instruction leaflet support 2B which are connected to the instruction leaflet 9 provide an additional guide to the user. Once it has been folded, the user only has to guide the instruction leaflet flap 2A behind the lips 13 and 14 by pressing it somewhat together and/or slipping it in.
It is clear that more than two lips may be provided, or that the lips may be otherwise formed.
It is also clear that the detachable attachment may be embodied otherwise. Figure 4 shows another alternative embodiment of a packaging 1 according to the invention.
For clarity's sake, the instruction leaflet is not represented .
This variant differs from the packaging 1 discussed above and represented in figure 1 in that the instruction leaflet
flap 2A is connected to the instruction leaflet support 2B at three side edges.
There is a direct connection in this case at the side edge 4, and an indirect connection at the two leaning side edges 7 and 8, in particular on both side edges, in particular by means of an accordion fold 15.
The free side edge 5 is provided with a protruding lip 16 which can be led in a slot 17 provided in the flap 3 in order to fix it.
The present invention is by no means restricted to the embodiments described by way of example and represented in the accompanying drawings; on the contrary, such a packaging according to the invention can be made in all sorts of shapes and dimensions while still remaining within the scope of the invention.
