Abstract
本発明の金属部材の熱処理方法は、無機系微粒子含有液を金属部材に塗布し乾燥して塗膜付金属部材を得る塗膜形成工程と、前記塗膜付金属部材を加熱した後に冷却液中に浸漬して急冷する焼入れ工程と、を備えることを特徴とする方法である。
Description
本発明は、金属部材の熱処理方法に関し、より詳しくは、鋳造、鍛造、圧延、機械加工などの成形加工方法により成形された金属部材の焼入れ処理として好適に採用することができる金属部材の熱処理方法に関する。
金属部材の焼入れは、鉄系材料に代表される急冷硬化のための焼入れやアルミニウム系材料に代表される溶体化のための焼入れがその典型なものであり、いずれも冷却中に不要な相が生成するのを防止するための急冷である。このような焼入れ方法としては、高温の金属部材を水や油などの冷却液中に浸漬することにより急冷する方法が広く行なわれている。しかしながら、このような焼入れ方法においては、高温の金属部材を冷却液中に浸漬すると金属部材表面で発生した蒸気が膜となって金属部材の表面を覆ってしまう。そのため、冷却液中への浸漬から液温にまで冷却される冷却過程において、特に、浸漬してから金属部材がまだ高温である冷却段階では蒸気膜が維持され易く、焼入れにおける冷却性能(焼入れにおいて金属部材を急冷する性能)が不十分となるという問題がある。
そこで、金属部材の焼入れにおいて、蒸気膜の発生を抑制しあるいは蒸気膜を円滑に破断させるために、種々の検討がなされており、例えば、冷却液として塩水を用いる方法が提案されている。また、焼入れ槽内の屈曲した傾斜路を通して金属部材を落下させて衝撃を与えることにより蒸気膜を除去して冷却速度を高めるという焼入れ方法が提案されている(特許文献1参照)。
しかしながら、冷却液として塩水を用いる方法においては、廃液の処理が難しいという問題や金属部材が腐食するという問題がある。また、特許文献1に記載の焼入れ方法においては、衝撃によって金属部材が変形または破損する恐れがある。
そこで、本発明は、金属の破損を防げると共に、焼入れにおける冷却性能に優れる金属部材の熱処理方法を提供することを目的とする。

前記課題を解決すべく、本発明は、以下のような金属部材の熱処理方法を提供するものである。すなわち、本発明の金属部材の熱処理方法は、無機系微粒子含有液を金属部材に塗布し乾燥して塗膜付金属部材を得る塗膜形成工程と、前記塗膜付金属部材を加熱した後に冷却液中に浸漬して急冷する焼入れ工程と、を備えることを特徴とする方法である。
本発明の金属部材の熱処理方法においては、前記無機系微粒子の単位面積あたりの付着量が、0.5mg/cm2以上15mg/cm2以下であることが好ましい。
本発明の金属部材の熱処理方法においては、前記無機系微粒子が非結晶シリカ微粒子であることが好ましい。
本発明の金属部材の熱処理方法においては、前記無機系微粒子の平均粒子径が1μm以上10μm以下であることが好ましい。
本発明の金属部材の熱処理方法においては、前記無機系微粒子の平均粒子径が1μm以上10μm以下であることが好ましい。
本発明の金属部材の熱処理方法においては、前記無機系微粒子含有液の固形分濃度が20質量%以上95質量%以下であることが好ましい。
本発明によれば、金属の破損を防げると共に、焼入れにおける冷却性能に優れる金属部材の熱処理方法を提供できる。
以下、本発明をその好適な実施形態に即して詳細に説明する。
本発明の金属部材の熱処理方法は、無機系微粒子含有液を金属部材に塗布し乾燥して塗膜付金属部材を得る塗膜形成工程と、前記塗膜付金属部材を加熱した後に冷却液中に浸漬して急冷する焼入れ工程と、を備えることを特徴とする方法である。
本発明の金属部材の熱処理方法は、無機系微粒子含有液を金属部材に塗布し乾燥して塗膜付金属部材を得る塗膜形成工程と、前記塗膜付金属部材を加熱した後に冷却液中に浸漬して急冷する焼入れ工程と、を備えることを特徴とする方法である。
先ず、本発明の金属部材の熱処理方法に用いる無機系微粒子およびそれを含有する無機系微粒子含有液について説明する。本発明に用いる無機系微粒子としては、例えば、シリカ微粒子、アルミナ微粒子、チタニア微粒子、ジルコニア微粒子、亜鉛などの金属酸化物微粒子、カーボン微粒子が挙げられる。これらの中でも、焼入れにおける冷却性能の観点から、シリカ微粒子が好ましく、非結晶性シリカ微粒子がより好ましい。また、これらの無機系微粒子は1種を単独で用いてもよく、2種以上を組み合わせて用いてもよい。さらに、これらの無機系微粒子には、分散性を向上させるなどの目的で、表面被覆処理が施されていてもよい。
前記無機系微粒子の平均粒子径は、焼入れにおける冷却性能の観点から、1μm以上10μm以下であることが好ましく、2μm以上5μm以下であることがより好ましい。このような平均粒子径は、例えば、光散乱法により測定することができる。

本発明に用いる無機系微粒子含有液は、前記無機系微粒子を含有する液であり、例えば、前記無機系微粒子を分散媒に分散せしめてなるものである。
分散媒としては、水;メタノール、エタノール、イソプロパノール、n-ブタノールなどのアルコール類;エチレングリコールなどの多価アルコール類及びその誘導体;メチルエチルケトン、メチルイソブチルケトン、ジメチルアセトアミドなどのケトン類;酢酸エチルなどのエステル類;トルエン、キシレンなどの非極性溶媒が挙げられる。これらの分散媒は1種を単独で用いてもよく、2種以上を組み合わせて用いてもよい。
また、前記無機系微粒子含有液はバインダーをさらに含有していてもよい。このような場合、バインダーとしては、例えば、合成樹脂、水系エマルション樹脂が挙げられる。合成樹脂としては、例えば、アルキド樹脂、アミノアルキド樹脂、アクリル樹脂、フェノール樹脂、ユリア樹脂、メラミン樹脂、エポキシ樹脂、ポリウレタン、ポリ塩化ビニル、ポリ酢酸ビニルが挙げられる。また、水系エマルション樹脂としては、例えば、シリコンアクリルエマルション、アクリルエマルション、ウレタンエマルション、ウレタンアクリルエマルションが挙げられる。
分散媒としては、水;メタノール、エタノール、イソプロパノール、n-ブタノールなどのアルコール類;エチレングリコールなどの多価アルコール類及びその誘導体;メチルエチルケトン、メチルイソブチルケトン、ジメチルアセトアミドなどのケトン類;酢酸エチルなどのエステル類;トルエン、キシレンなどの非極性溶媒が挙げられる。これらの分散媒は1種を単独で用いてもよく、2種以上を組み合わせて用いてもよい。
また、前記無機系微粒子含有液はバインダーをさらに含有していてもよい。このような場合、バインダーとしては、例えば、合成樹脂、水系エマルション樹脂が挙げられる。合成樹脂としては、例えば、アルキド樹脂、アミノアルキド樹脂、アクリル樹脂、フェノール樹脂、ユリア樹脂、メラミン樹脂、エポキシ樹脂、ポリウレタン、ポリ塩化ビニル、ポリ酢酸ビニルが挙げられる。また、水系エマルション樹脂としては、例えば、シリコンアクリルエマルション、アクリルエマルション、ウレタンエマルション、ウレタンアクリルエマルションが挙げられる。
前記無機系微粒子含有液の固形分濃度は、塗布性および得られる塗膜の性能の観点から、20質量%以上95質量%以下であることが好ましく、50質量%以上95質量%以下であることがより好ましく、70質量%以上90質量%以下であることが特に好ましい。
塗膜形成工程においては、無機系微粒子含有液を金属部材に塗布する。前記無機系微粒子含有液の塗布方法は、特に限定されないが、例えば、ロールコーター、リバースロールコーター、グラビアコーター、ナイフコーター、バーコーター、スプレーコーター、刷毛などを用いる方法を採用することができる。
前記無機系微粒子の単位面積あたりの付着量は、焼入れにおける冷却性能の観点から、0.5mg/cm2以上15mg/cm2以下であることが好ましく、1mg/cm2以上10mg/cm2以下であることがより好ましく、2mg/cm2以上5mg/cm2以下であることが特に好ましい。付着量が前記下限以上であれば、無機系微粒子の膜として機能するため、焼入れにおける冷却性能を十分に確保することができ、他方、前記上限以下であれば、無機系微粒子の膜の一部が剥離してしまうなどの問題もない。
前記無機系微粒子の単位面積あたりの付着量は、焼入れにおける冷却性能の観点から、0.5mg/cm2以上15mg/cm2以下であることが好ましく、1mg/cm2以上10mg/cm2以下であることがより好ましく、2mg/cm2以上5mg/cm2以下であることが特に好ましい。付着量が前記下限以上であれば、無機系微粒子の膜として機能するため、焼入れにおける冷却性能を十分に確保することができ、他方、前記上限以下であれば、無機系微粒子の膜の一部が剥離してしまうなどの問題もない。
本発明に用いる金属部材は、特に限定されない。また、前記金属部材の材質としても特に限定されず、適宜公知の金属や合金を用いることができる。金属部材の材質としては、例えば、鉄、マグネシウム、アルミニウム、クロム、マンガン、ニッケル、銅、亜鉛、などの金属、これらの金属からなる合金が挙げられる。
塗膜形成工程においては、無機系微粒子含有液を金属部材に塗布した後に、乾燥して塗膜付金属部材を得る。ここで、乾燥条件は特に限定されない。例えば、乾燥温度は通常-10℃以上500℃以下であり、好ましくは10℃以上300℃以下である。また、乾燥時間は通常5分間以上50時間以下であり、好ましくは10分間以上10時間以下である。
焼入れ工程においては、前記塗膜付金属部材を加熱した後に冷却液中に浸漬して急冷する。ここで、加熱時における前記塗膜付金属部材の温度は、通常600℃以上1200℃以下であり、好ましくは800℃以上1050℃以下である。また、冷却液の温度は、熱処理油であれば、通常60℃以上200℃以下であり、好ましくは80℃以上160℃以下である。水及び水系焼入れ液であれば、通常20℃以上100℃以下であり、好ましくは30℃以上40℃以下である。
本発明に用いる冷却液は、特に限定されず、焼入れに用いる冷却液として公知のものを適宜使用することができる。このような冷却液としては、例えば、水、熱処理油、水系焼入液が挙げられる。
熱処理油は、鉱油、合成油などを含有するものである。鉱油としては、例えば、パラフィン基系鉱油、中間基系鉱油、ナフテン基系鉱油などが挙げられる。また、合成油としては、例えば、ポリブテン、ポリオレフィン[α-オレフィン単独重合体や共重合体(例えばエチレン-α-オレフィン共重合体)など]、各種のエステル(例えば、ポリオールエステル、二塩基酸エステル、リン酸エステルなど)、各種のエーテル(例えば、ポリフェニルエーテルなど)、ポリグリコール、アルキルベンゼン、アルキルナフタレンなどが挙げられる。また、このような熱処理油は、必要に応じて、公知の添加剤をさらに含有していてもよい。
水系焼入液としては、ポリアルキレングリコール、ポリビニルアルコール、ポリビニルピロリドン、ポリアクリル酸ソーダ、ポリイソブチレンマレイン酸ソーダ、ポリエチレングリコールなどの水溶性ポリマーを水に溶解させたものが挙げられる。
次に、本発明を実施例によりさらに詳細に説明するが、本発明はこれらの例によってなんら限定されるものではない。なお、各例における冷却性能は以下のような方法で評価した。
<冷却性能>
JIS K 2242に記載のA法に準拠して、焼入れにおける冷却性能を評価した。すなわち、試料を810℃に加熱した後に、冷却液(水、温度:40℃)に投入し、試料の冷却曲線を測定した。得られた冷却曲線から、800℃から200℃までに冷却されるのに要する冷却時間(単位:秒)を読み取り、その冷却時間に基づいて冷却性能を評価した。なお、冷却時間が短いほど冷却性能が高いことを示す。
<冷却性能>
JIS K 2242に記載のA法に準拠して、焼入れにおける冷却性能を評価した。すなわち、試料を810℃に加熱した後に、冷却液(水、温度:40℃)に投入し、試料の冷却曲線を測定した。得られた冷却曲線から、800℃から200℃までに冷却されるのに要する冷却時間(単位:秒)を読み取り、その冷却時間に基づいて冷却性能を評価した。なお、冷却時間が短いほど冷却性能が高いことを示す。
[実施例1]
円柱状の金属部材(材質:銀、直径:10φmm、長さ:30mm)の表面に無機系微粒子含有液(アクアウエスト社製、製品名「セラミックカバー CC100」、無機系微粒子:非結晶性シリカ微粒子、固形分濃度:87質量%)を、無機系微粒子の付着量が1.0mg/cm2となるように、塗布し、温度23℃にて10時間乾燥して、塗膜付金属部材を得た。得られた塗膜付金属部材を試料として、前記した方法で冷却性能を評価し、結果を表1に示す。また、実施例1における無機系微粒子の付着量を表1に示す。
円柱状の金属部材(材質:銀、直径:10φmm、長さ:30mm)の表面に無機系微粒子含有液(アクアウエスト社製、製品名「セラミックカバー CC100」、無機系微粒子:非結晶性シリカ微粒子、固形分濃度:87質量%)を、無機系微粒子の付着量が1.0mg/cm2となるように、塗布し、温度23℃にて10時間乾燥して、塗膜付金属部材を得た。得られた塗膜付金属部材を試料として、前記した方法で冷却性能を評価し、結果を表1に示す。また、実施例1における無機系微粒子の付着量を表1に示す。

無機系微粒子の付着量が2.6mg/cm2となるように無機系微粒子含有液を塗布した以外は実施例1と同様にして塗膜付金属部材を得た。得られた塗膜付金属部材を試料として、前記した方法で冷却性能を評価し、結果を表1に示す。また、実施例2における無機系微粒子の付着量を表1に示す。

無機系微粒子の付着量が4.0mg/cm2となるように無機系微粒子含有液を塗布した以外は実施例1と同様にして塗膜付金属部材を得た。得られた塗膜付金属部材を試料として、前記した方法で冷却性能を評価し、結果を表1に示す。また、実施例3における無機系微粒子の付着量を表1に示す。
無機系微粒子の付着量が4.0mg/cm2となるように無機系微粒子含有液を塗布した以外は実施例1と同様にして塗膜付金属部材を得た。得られた塗膜付金属部材を試料として、前記した方法で冷却性能を評価し、結果を表1に示す。また、実施例3における無機系微粒子の付着量を表1に示す。
[実施例4]
無機系微粒子の付着量が13.2mg/cm2となるように無機系微粒子含有液を塗布した以外は実施例1と同様にして塗膜付金属部材を得た。得られた塗膜付金属部材を試料として、前記した方法で冷却性能を評価し、結果を表1に示す。また、実施例4における無機系微粒子の付着量を表1に示す。
無機系微粒子の付着量が13.2mg/cm2となるように無機系微粒子含有液を塗布した以外は実施例1と同様にして塗膜付金属部材を得た。得られた塗膜付金属部材を試料として、前記した方法で冷却性能を評価し、結果を表1に示す。また、実施例4における無機系微粒子の付着量を表1に示す。
[実施例5]
無機系微粒子含有液に代えて防炭剤(Heatbath/ParkMetallurgical社製、製品名「NO-CARB」)を用い、防炭剤の付着量が13.2mg/cm2となるように防炭剤を塗布した以外は実施例1と同様にして塗膜付金属部材を得た。得られた塗膜付金属部材を試料として、前記した方法で冷却性能を評価し、結果を表1に示す。また、実施例5における防炭剤の付着量を表1に示す。
無機系微粒子含有液に代えて防炭剤(Heatbath/ParkMetallurgical社製、製品名「NO-CARB」)を用い、防炭剤の付着量が13.2mg/cm2となるように防炭剤を塗布した以外は実施例1と同様にして塗膜付金属部材を得た。得られた塗膜付金属部材を試料として、前記した方法で冷却性能を評価し、結果を表1に示す。また、実施例5における防炭剤の付着量を表1に示す。
[比較例1]
円柱状の金属部材(材質:銀、直径:10φmm、長さ:30mm)について、前記した方法で冷却性能を評価し、結果を表1に示す。

[評価結果]
表1に示した結果から明らかなように、本発明の金属部材の熱処理方法(実施例1から実施例5まで)においては、無機系微粒子が付着していない金属部材と比較して冷却時間が短く、焼入れにおける冷却性能に優れることが確認された。なお、本発明の金属部材の熱処理方法(実施例1から実施例5まで)においては、金属部材の表面が無機系微粒子により覆われているため、金属の破損を防ぐことができる。
表1に示した結果から明らかなように、本発明の金属部材の熱処理方法(実施例1から実施例5まで)においては、無機系微粒子が付着していない金属部材と比較して冷却時間が短く、焼入れにおける冷却性能に優れることが確認された。なお、本発明の金属部材の熱処理方法(実施例1から実施例5まで)においては、金属部材の表面が無機系微粒子により覆われているため、金属の破損を防ぐことができる。
本発明の金属部材の熱処理方法は、鋳造、鍛造、圧延、機械加工などの成形加工方法により成形された金属部材の焼入れ処理として好適に採用することができる。
Claims (5)
- 無機系微粒子含有液を金属部材に塗布し乾燥して塗膜付金属部材を得る塗膜形成工程と、
前記塗膜付金属部材を加熱した後に冷却液中に浸漬して急冷する焼入れ工程と、
を備えることを特徴とする金属部材の熱処理方法。 - 請求項1に記載の金属部材の熱処理方法であって、
前記無機系微粒子の単位面積あたりの付着量が、0.5mg/cm2以上15mg/cm2以下である
ことを特徴とする金属部材の熱処理方法。 - 請求項1または請求項2に記載の金属部材の熱処理方法であって、
前記無機系微粒子が非結晶シリカ微粒子である
ことを特徴とする金属部材の熱処理方法。 - 請求項1から請求項3までのいずれか1項に記載の金属部材の熱処理方法であって、
前記無機系微粒子の平均粒子径が1μm以上10μm以下である
ことを特徴とする金属部材の熱処理方法。 - 請求項1から請求項4までのいずれか1項に記載の金属部材の熱処理方法であって、
前記無機系微粒子含有液の固形分濃度が20質量%以上95質量%以下である
ことを特徴とする金属部材の熱処理方法。
