Abstract
A data transmission method on a switch device and an apparatus thereof are provided in the embodiments of the present invention. The method includes: a first switch device receives a data stream needing to be forwarded, and the first switch device obtains the information of the destination network device which is going to receive the data stream; in the case that the state of the port from the first switch device to the destination network device is normal, the first switch device transmits, via the port from the first switch device to the destination network device, the data stream to the destination network device. With the present invention, the bandwidth needed by stack ports is greatly reduced, and the problem of insufficient bandwidth for the stack ports is solved. The number of the stack ports on the switch device is reduced, the number of the ports on the switch device used for the data interaction with the network device is increased, and thereby the utilization ratio of the ports on the switch device is improved.
