  • the present invention relates to an adapter for fluidly connecting pipe connections. It may involve a pipe connection between pipes or pipelines, between a pipe and another device, such as for example a machine, or between two devices such as for example two machines. Machines may include many different types of device, such as for example pumps, compressors, various types of motors etc. Other cases may also be envisaged where the present invention may be applicable, for example in connection with a pipe penetration through a wall or the like.
  • connection device which is adjustable in the axial direction in order thereby to simplify the assembly of for example two existing pipelines. It will also be desirable to be able to rotate the two ends of the connection device relative to each other, thereby avoiding the need to produce a connection device with accurate measurements and dimensions for an exact fit, which both adds to the expense and is time-consuming.
  • a further object has been to provide an adapter where the two ends of the adapter can be rotated relative to each other, thereby making it easier to use in connection with existing pipes or other devices.

  • the adjustment flange is provided with at least one, but preferably two or more axially through-going bolt slots for passing through corresponding adjusting bolt or adjusting bolts.
  • the bolt slots extend preferably in the adjustment flange's circumferential direction. These bolt slots offer the possibility of adjusting the first adapter part relative to the second adapter part by means of a rotation of the first adapter part relative to the second adapter part.
  • the length of the bolt slots will depend on the degree of rotation required, i.e. how many degrees the two adapter parts require to be rotated relative to each other.
  • the expression "the bolt slots' circumferential direction” should be understood to mean that the bolt slots follow a circular path round the pipe part's longitudinal axis.
  • the adjustment flange is preferably securely fixed to the second adapter part's pipe part, for example by welding.
  • the adjustment flange may be mounted on the pipe part rotatably about the pipe part's longitudinal axis and provided with at least one, but preferably two or more axially through-going bolt holes for passing through the corresponding adjusting bolts.
  • it is provided with one or more guides which are arranged so as to enable the adjustment flange to be rotated about the pipe part, but prevent axial movement of the adjusting ring.
  • the adjusting bolt or adjusting bolts When the adapter is assembled, the adjusting bolt or adjusting bolts are connected to the adjustment flange on the second adapter part and the first end flange on the first adapter part.
  • the first adapter part and the second adapter part are thereby interconnected and arranged at a given distance from each other.
  • the adjusting bolt or adjusting bolts can be attached to the first end flange by being screwed into corresponding bolt holes in the first end flange.
  • the adjusting bolt or adjusting bolts may be securely fixed to the first end flange, for example by welding.
  • the adjustment flange and the adjusting bolt or adjusting bolts are furthermore interactively arranged for adjustment of axial distance between the adjustment flange and the first end flange and/or relative rotation of the first adapter part and the adjustment flange.
  • the adjusting bolt or adjusting bolts are passed through corresponding bolt slots or bolt holes in the adjustment flange and, as already described, connected to the first end flange.
  • the adjusting bolts are provided with an adjusting mechanism.
  • This adjusting mechanism may comprise two adjusting nuts which are mounted on the at least one adjusting bolt, one on each side of the adjustment flange in the axial direction.
  • the adjusting bolts are provided with threads thereby enabling the adjusting bolts to .be screwed forwards and backwards on the bolts until the desired distance between the first end flange and the adjustment flange, i.e. the desired length of the adapter, is achieved.
  • the two adapter parts can be rotated relative to each other to the desired degree.
  • the adjusting nuts can then be tightened up against the adjustment flange, thereby locking the position of the first adapter part and the second adapter part relative to each other.
  • the second adapter part's pipe part may of course be designed with different axial lengths, and be provided with one or more knee portions between the adjustment flange and the pipe part's second end portion.
  • the second adapter part is preferably provided with a second end flange which is attached to the pipe part's second end portion.
  • the second end flange is further provided with bolt holes for passing through bolts, screws or the like, thereby enabling it to be attached to a pipe, a pipeline, a pump, a compressor, a machine or the like.
  • the first end flange is preferably also provided with bolt holes for the same reason.
  • the pipe part's second end portion may be provided with a spigot which may be welded to a device to which the adapter has to be attached.
  • the adjusting bolts may be adjusted to begin with so as to permit a sufficient relative axial movement and a relative rotational movement between the first adapter part and the second adapter part.
  • One of the two adapter parts is then attached to the first fluid-bearing device and axial length of the adapter and relative rotation between the first adapter part and the second adapter part are adapted in such a manner that the second of the two adapter parts comes into the correct position for attachment to the second fluid-bearing device.
  • the second adapter part is attached to the second fluid-bearing device and the adjusting bolts are tightened up against the adjustment flange thereby locking the first adapter part and the second adapter part in this position. It is also possible to adjust the axial length of the adapter and relative rotation between the first adapter part and the second adapter part and tighten up the adjusting bolts against the adjustment flange in advance so that the adapter is pre- adjusted before the adapter is mounted on the first device and the second fluid- bearing device. All that has to be done then is to place the adapter between the first fluid-bearing device and the second fluid-bearing device and to attach the first adapter half and the second adapter half to the first fluid-bearing device and the second fluid-bearing device respectively.

  • Figure 2 illustrates an axial section through the adapter illustrated in figure 1.
  • the illustrated embodiment of the adapter 10 comprises a first adapter part 12 with a first end flange 18.
  • the first adapter part 12 is provided with a through-going bore 16.
  • the adapter further comprises a second adapter part 14 which is provided with a pipe part 30 with a first end portion 20 and a second end portion 22, where the first end portion 20 has an external diameter which matches the internal diameter of the bore 16, thereby enabling the pipe part 30 to be inserted in the bore 16.
  • a gasket 33 is preferably mounted in the first adapter part 12 as illustrated in figure 2.
  • the pipe part 30 is further provided with an adjustment flange 24.
  • the adjustment flange 24 is securely fixed to the pipe part 30 by means of welding 38 and provided with at least one, but preferably two or more bolt slots 25 as illustrated in figure 1.
  • the adjustment flange 24 may be provided with bolt holes and be rotatably mounted on the pipe part about the adapter's 10 and the pipe part's 30 longitudinal axis A as described earlier in the description.
  • the adapter 10 is provided with at least one, but preferably two or more adjusting bolts 32.
  • the adjusting bolts 32 are passed through the bolt slots 25 and screwed into corresponding bolt holes 42 in the first end flange 18.
  • the adjusting bolts 32 may be securely fixed to the first end flange 18 by means of for example welding.
  • the adjusting bolts 32 further comprise two adjusting nuts 27, one on each side of the adjustment flange 24 in the axial direction, which can be screwed up and down on the adjusting bolts 32.
  • the pipe part 24 can be moved forwards and backwards in the axial direction and rotated relative to the first adapter part 12 to the desired length on the adapter and, on account of the bolt slots 25, until the desired relative rotational position between the first adapter part 12 and the second adapter part 14 is achieved.
  • the first end flange 18 is preferably provided with bolt hole 34 and the second end flange 26 is preferably provided with bolt hole 36, thereby enabling the first adapter part 12 and the second adapter part 14 to be attached to respective pipes, pipelines, machines or other devices for which the adapter 10 has to provide a fluid

Abstract

L'invention concerne un adaptateur (10) destiné au raccordement de deux canalisations de fluide, l'adaptateur comportant une première partie (12) qui présente un alésage traversant axial (16) et une première bride d'extrémité. L'adaptateur comporte également une seconde partie (14) qui comprend une partie tuyau (30) pourvue d'une première portion d'extrémité (20) et d'une seconde portion d'extrémité (22), laquelle première portion d'extrémité est conçue pour s'insérer et se déplacer axialement dans l'alésage de la première partie d'adaptateur. La seconde partie d'adaptateur comporte, en outre, une bride de réglage qui est montée sur la partie tuyau entre la première portion d'extrémité et la seconde portion d'extrémité de celle-ci. L'adaptateur comporte, d'autre part, au moins un boulon de réglage (32) qui, lorsque l'adaptateur est assemblé, est relié à la bride de réglage et à la première bride d'extrémité. La bride de réglage et le ou les boulons de réglage sont agencés pour le réglage interactif de la distance axiale entre la bride de réglage et la première bride d'extrémité et/ou la rotation de la première partie d'adaptateur par rapport à la bride de réglage. L'invention concerne également un procédé de montage d'un adaptateur entre un premier palier fluide et un second palier fluide de façon à obtenir une liaison fluidique continue.
