Abstract

The invention relates to dry-compressing twin-shaft rotary displacement machines, preferably in the form of screw spindle compressors for delivering and compressing gases. In order to achieve both the synchronisation and the desired increase in rotational speed of the spindle rotor pair with the smallest possible installation space and with a simple overall design, according to the invention the sum of the toothing outside radii of the two rotor-fixed spur gears (1) to be driven is designed to be less than the axial spacing between the screw spindle rotor pair (16) and thus the rotor-fixed spur gears (1) are no longer in toothed engagement with one another. Simultaneously a pair of larger additional spur gears (3), which are directly in toothed engagement with one another, engage individually with each rotor-fixed spur gear (1) in such a way that the rotor-fixed spur gears (1) are driven in opposite directions in synchronization with one another and at a higher rotational speed than said additional spur gear pair (3).
