Abstract

La présente invention concerne des dispositifs et des procédés qui diagnostiquent un ou plusieurs générateurs de douleur au niveau ou à proximité de la colonne vertébrale chez un patient souffrant de douleurs. Un mode de réalisation concerne un dispositif qui comprend : une sonde de transduction externe ayant une extrémité proximale, une extrémité distale et un corps entre celles-ci, la sonde étant configurée de manière à être placée en contact avec la peau d'un patient à proximité d'un générateur de douleur ou un générateur de douleur suspecté; une source d'énergie qui fournit à la sonde de l'énergie; et un conduit pour raccorder la source d'énergie et l'extrémité proximale de la sonde. L'énergie est transférée de la source d'énergie à l'extrémité distale de la sonde à travers la peau du patient et a une intensité pour appliquer et produire un signal de douleur lorsque au moins l'extrémité distale de la sonde est proche du générateur de douleur ou générateur de douleur suspecté.
