Abstract

The invention relates to a battery system for a motor vehicle with an internal combustion engine, said battery system comprising at least one low-voltage on-board power supply system and an on-board power supply system with higher voltage. The low-voltage on-board power supply system comprises at least one starter battery (10) which is designed to generate a first voltage and to output said voltage to the low-voltage on-board power supply system, and at least one starter (11), which is or can be connected to the starter battery (10) and which is designed to start the internal combustion engine in response to a starter signal. The on-board power supply system with higher voltage comprises at least one electric generator (13-2) which can be operated by the internal combustion engine and which is designed to generate a second voltage, which is higher than the first voltage, and to output said voltage to the on-board power supply system with higher voltage. The on-board power supply system with higher voltage is connected to the low-voltage on-board power supply system via a coupling unit (15) which is designed to withdraw electric power from the on-board power supply system with higher voltage and to supply said electric power to the low-voltage on-board power supply system. The invention further relates to a motor vehicle comprising a corresponding battery system.
