Description
Description
A BUILT-IN DISHWASHER COMPRISING A DECORATIVE PANEL ON THE
DOOR THEREOF
[0001] The present invention relates to a built-in dishwasher comprising a door which is opened by tilting forward and a decorative panel which is mounted onto the door.
[0002] In built-in dishwashers, a decorative panel is mounted on the outer surface of the door and the door is opened by being rotated around the horizontal axis while the panel is mounted thereon. Since the built-in dishwasher is embedded in furniture and the panel is desired to conceal the dishwasher in the furniture due to visual concerns, the height of the panel is kept longer than the door so that the panel projects from under the door when the door is closed. As the door opens by rotating, the panel gets stuck to the bottom side of the body and prevents the door from opening. In the technique, mechanisms are explained which provide the panel to be mounted onto the door such as to slide on the door while the door is opened.
[0003] In the state of the art German Patent Document No. DE3026637, a
dishwasher is described that has a panel which is fastened to two arms, mounted onto the door, such as to stand separately from the door and which falls down by its own weight until it bears against the lower portion of the body while the door is opened..
[0004] The panel disposed in the dishwasher explained in the state of the art
European Patent Document No EP1526472, slides towards the outside of the door beginning from the moment it contacts the lower portion of the body by pushing a spring disposed between the door and itself while the door is opened.
[0005] The aim of the present invention is the realization of a built-in dishwasher wherein the panel that is mounted on the door does not prevent the opening of the door while the door is opened.
[0006] The dishwasher realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is explicated in the attached claims.
[0007] The built-in dishwasher comprises a body disposed into the furniture, a
door opened by tilting forwards and a decorative panel placed on the door. The panel is installed on the door such as to project from the door in order to entirely cover the front surface of the body.
[0008] The built-in dishwasher of the present invention comprises a rope fastened between the body and the panel and at least one pressure element that presses on the rope while the door is opened providing rope to move at least partially as much as the door moves. The built-in dishwasher furthermore comprises more than one roller that changes the movement direction of the rope and which provides the rope to pull the panel so that the panel does not get near the body while the door is opened.
Consequently, while the door is opened by rotating on the lower side thereof, the panel is slid on the door, that the lower side of the panel is provided not to contact the body or the furniture.
[0009] In an embodiment of the present invention, the pressure element is a
hinge connects the door to the body, providing the door to open by rotating on the lower side of the body. In this embodiment, while the arm of the pressure element fixed to the door rotates downwards together with the door, the other arm rotates upwards. A roller is attached at the end of the arm rotating upwards while the door is opened and the rope is passed over the roller. Thus, the movement of the pressure element provides the rope to pull the panel while the door is opened since the end of the rope secured to the body does not move.
[0010] In an embodiment of the present invention, the pressure element is a
spring with one end connected to the body, the other end to the door, providing the door to open slowly. The rope is fastened to the body with the pressure element and moves together with the pressure element that tightens while the door is opened. The rope, the movement direction of which is changed by the rollers, pulls the panel while the door is opened and prevents the panel from moving closer to the body.
[001 1] In an embodiment of the present invention, a slide is disposed between the door and the panel. The panel can slide on the door by moving on the slide. In a version of this embodiment, the rope is fastened to the panel by means of the slide. Thus, the rope is concealed between the door and the
panel. The rope is secured to almost the center portions of the panel and one roller is mounted to a higher part of the door. The rope is pulled towards the body by the pressure element while the door is opened and is pulled in the downward direction between another roller disposed below the door and the roller disposed at the upper side of the door and moves upward by changing direction between the panel and the roller disposed at the upper portion of the door. Consequently, the rope also pulls the panel upwards.
[0012] In an embodiment of the present invention, at least two pressure elements and ropes that move with the pressure elements are placed on two side walls of the body and the ropes are fastened to two lateral sides of the panel. Thus, the panel is pulled from both sides with the same force while the door is opened.
[0013] By means of the present invention, the rope, fastened to the body with one end and to the panel from the other end, slides the panel on the door and pushes towards the opposite of the door opening direction by means of the rollers disposed on the built-in dishwasher. Consequently, the panel is prevented from contacting the body or the furniture while the door is opened.
[0014] The built-in dishwasher realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is illustrated in the attached figures, where:
[0015] Figure 1 - is the perspective view of a built-in dishwasher while the door thereof is closed.
[0016] Figure 2 - is the view of detail A in Figure 1 while the door is closed.
[0017] Figure 3 - is the view of detail A in Figure 1 while the door is open.
[0018] Figure 4 - is the perspective view of a built-in dishwasher in another
embodiment of the present invention.
[0019] Figure 5 - is the perspective view of the built-in dishwasher while the door is closed in another embodiment of the present invention.
[0020] Figure 6 - is the perspective view of the built-in dishwasher while the door is open in another embodiment of the present invention.
[0021] The elements illustrated in the figures are numbered as follows:
1. Built-in dishwasher
2. Body
3. Door
4. Panel
5. Rope
6. Hinge
7. 107., 207. Roller
8. Spring
9. First arm
10. Second arm
[0022] The built-in dishwasher (1 ) that is used by being placed inside the kitchen furniture comprises a body (2) placed inside the furniture, a door (3) moving by rotating around a horizontal axis and providing access into the body (2) and a decorative panel (4) mounted on the door (3) so as to move slidably on the door (3).
[0023] The built-in dishwasher (1 ) comprises a hinge (6) that fastens the door (3) rotatably to the body (2). In the built-in dishwasher (1 ), the panel (4) used for decorative purposes is desired to cover the front side of the body (2) and hence to be longer than the door (3). The door (3) opens by rotating on the hinge (6) in a rotational axis (E) whereby the door (3) is connected with the body (2).
[0024] The built-in dishwasher (1 ) comprises a spring (8), with one end fastened to the hinge (6) and the other end to the body (2), that provides the door (3) to be opened slowly. The spring (8) tightens while the door (3) is opened and provides the door (3) to be opened slowly by providing the hinge (6) to rotate slowly.
[0025] The built-in dishwasher (1 ) furthermore comprises at least one rope (5) which is moved by the hinge (6) or the spring (8), with one end fastened to the body (2), the other end to the panel (4), by applying pressure thereon and which slides the panel (4) with the movement of the hinge (6) or the spring (8) (Figure 1 , Figure 4 and Figure 5).
[0026] The built-in dishwasher (1 ) of the present invention comprises at least one roller (7, 107, 207) that changes the movement direction of the rope (5) while the door (3) is opened such that the panel (4) slides on the door (3)
(Figure 1 , Figure 2, Figure 3, Figure 4 and Figure 5). While the door (3) is opened by rotating around the rotational axis (E), the rope (5), whereon pressure is applied, is moved and the rope (5) pulls the panel (4) upwards by the end thereof fastened to the panel (4). The movement direction of the rope (5) is adjusted by the rollers (7, 107, 207).
[0027] In an embodiment of the present invention, the hinge (6) having a first arm (9) secured to the door (3), that moves downward while the door (3) is opened and a second arm (10) that moves upwards freely while the door (3) is opened applies pressure to the rope (5) (Figure 1 , Figure 2, Figure 3 and Figure 4). While the hinge (6) is secured to the body (2) so as to be rotatable in the rotational axis (E), the first arm (9) thereof moves downward while the door (3) is opened and the second arm (10) thereof moves upwards freely while the door (3) is opened. The rope (5) is passed over the roller (7) that is mounted on the arm (10) of the hinge (6). Thus, the arm (10) that moves upwards while the door (3) is opened also pulls the rope (5) upwards, the portion of the rope (5) situated between the roller (107) disposed at the lower side of the door (3) and the lower side of the panel (4) moves upwards as the roller (107) changes its direction.
Consequently, the rope (5) can move without being subjected to friction force with its direction of movement changed by means of the rollers (7, 107) and can slide the panel (4) upwards (Figure 2 and Figure 3).
[0028] In an embodiment of the present invention, the spring (8) fastened to the second arm (10) of the hinge (6) applies pressure on the rope (5) (Figure 5 and Figure 6). The spring (8) stretches and elongates by the pulling of the second arm (10) while the door (3) is opened. The stretching and elongating spring (8) also pulls the rope (5) in the direction of elongation. For example, if the spring (8) elongates in the downward direction while the door (3) is opened, the rope (5) also moves in the downward direction. The movement direction of the rope (5) and the roller (7) disposed at a higher level than the spring (8) is changed to be upwards. The rope (5) reaches the panel (4) by being passed from the roller (107) disposed under the door (3) and provides the panel (4) to also move upwards.
[0029] In an embodiment of the present invention, the built-in dishwasher (1 )
comprises a slide (not shown in the figures) between the panel (4) and the door (3) so that the panel (4) slides on the door (3). In this embodiment, the rope (5) is mounted to the panel (4) by being brought over the slide and thus is concealed between the door (3) and the panel (4). While the rope (5) is pulled towards the body (2) as the door (3) is opened, a roller (207), mounted onto the door (3) at a level higher than the level whereat the rope (5) is secured to the panel (4), changes the movement of the rope (5) in the downward direction to be upwards. Consequently, the rope (5), situated between the door (3) and the panel (4), can pull the panel (4) upwards while the door (3) is opened (Figure 4, Figure 5 and Figure 6).
[0030] By means of the embodiment of the present invention, the rope (5), with one end fastened to the body (2), the other end to the panel (4), pulls the panel (4) so as to move away from the rotational axis (E) by means of the hinge (6) or the spring (8) pulling the rope (5) while the door (3) is opened and the pulling direction of the rope (5) being changed with the positioning of the rollers (7, 107, 207). Consequently, the lower side of the panel (4), that is longer than the door (3), is prevented from hitting the body (2) while the door (3) is opened.
[0031] It is to be understood that the present invention is not limited by the
embodiments disclosed above and a person skilled in the art can easily introduce different embodiments. These should be considered within the scope of the protection postulated by the claims of the present invention.
