Abstract

A pre-authorisation system for card (12) transactions is provided. The system includes a mobile communication device (20) and one or more servers including databases (24) which are in communication with one or more financial institutions (26) linked to the card (12) in question. The mobile communication device (20) is adapted to transmit a message containing a multi factor authentication code (22) to a receiver in communication with the server (24). The code is interpretable by the server in order to pre-authenticate a transaction up to a pre-determined maximum value.
