Abstract

본 발명은 그래프 컷(graph cut)의 초기값을 설정하는 방법, 단말 장치 및 컴퓨터 판독 가능한 기록 매체에 관한 것이다. 본 발명의 일 태양에 따르면, 이미지에서 인물 영역과 배경 영역을 구분하기 위하여 그래프 컷(graph cuts)의 초기값을 설정하는 방법으로서, (a) 입력 이미지로부터 얼굴 영역을 검출하는 단계, (b) 기저장된 복수의 인물 영역 패턴 중 상기 검출된 얼굴 영역과의 유사도가 기설정된 값 이상인 얼굴 영역을 포함하는 기준 인물 영역 패턴을 결정하는 단계, 및 (c) 상기 검출된 얼굴 영역을 기준으로 하여 입력 이미지 상에 상기 기준 인물 영역 패턴을 정렬시키는 경우, 상기 입력 이미지 중 상기 정렬된 기준 인물 영역 패턴 중 어느 하나에 의해서도 커버되지 않는 제1 영역에 배경용 초기값을 부여하고, 상기 입력 이미지 중 상기 정렬된 기준 인물 영역 패턴 모두에 의하여 커버되는 제2 영역에 인물용 초기값을 부여하는 단계를 포함하는 방법이 제공된다. 본 발명에 의하면, 휴대용 단말 장치 상에서 그래프 컷을 이용한 이미지 편집이 보다 정확하고도 효과적으로 수행될 수 있게 되는 효과를 달성할 수 있다.
