Abstract

Provided is a water purification system able to remove water-borne dissolved organic matter and microorganisms which are harmful to the human body without removing mineral components which are beneficial to the human body. The water purification system of the present invention comprises: a biological water purification treatment unit which comprises a biological activated carbon treatment unit and which uses microorganisms contained in the biological activated carbon treatment unit to take up and break down and thus remove organic matter dissolved in water, thereby carrying out a first water purification treatment on the water; and a physical and chemical adsorption water purification treatment unit which comprises a granular activated carbon treatment unit and that uses the granular activated carbon, which is contained in the granular activated carbon treatment unit and comprises porous voids, to adsorb and thus remove organic matter dissolved in the water, thereby carrying out a second water purification treatment on the water on which the first water purification treatment was carried out by means of the biological water purification treatment unit.
