Description
Strahlmittel blasting agent
The invention preferably relates to a blasting medium for the controlled, aggressive to less aggressive removal of material when cleaning workpiece surfaces. The abrasive can also be used for matting surfaces or as abrasive aggregate in liquid cutting processes (waterjet cutting). The application for gentle cleaning blasting and processing of soft materials is preferably possible with light metal, molds, plastics and wood. Matting of precious and chrome steel and ferrous and non-ferrous metals on all substrates is also possible.
The abrasive is also applicable to all blasting equipment such as compressed air systems or centrifugal systems.
The different types of blasting machine as well as the different blasting purposes require very special properties of abrasives with regard to hardness, shape, size and also the specific mass.
In addition to the use of inorganic blasting agents such as iron-containing, metallic blasting agents, non-ferrous metal blasting agents, synthetic abrasives, mineral abrasives, slag blasting agents and organic abrasives is also the Use of glass / ceramic abrasives such as glass breakage, glass beads, glass fibers and ceramic balls known for a long time.
The glass blasting agents are produced from flat or bottle glass. The raw material has only minor admixtures of harmful elements such as arsenic, beryllium, cobalt, nickel, chromium and lead and their compounds. It has a Mohs hardness of about 5 to 6. Since the flat or bottle glass was previously approved for contact with humans and partly for food, it is also approved as a blasting agent. The use of blasting media from purified recycling breakage of picture tubes from televisions and monitors with a Mohs hardness of about 6 to 8 for aggressive to less aggressive removal of materials for cleaning and matting of workpiece surfaces, or as an abrasive additive in liquid cutting processes, was not previously known because in this material in the sum of admixtures of antimony, lead, cadmium, tin, arsenic, beryllium, cobalt, nickel and chromium of more than 2% by weight are included. These additions are considered inadmissible for contact with humans because they are harmful to health. Only when these substances are admixed with a total of less than 2% by weight is contact with this recycling breakage of picture tubes from television sets and monitors with humans considered to be harmless to health. Such low concentrations of admixtures can now be achieved by suitable cleaning methods. These prior art processes involve a very careful and analytically controlled separation of the barium and strontium containing glass from the leaded glass and its coatings, as well as other contaminants. They prevent the carryover of pollutants and at the same time guarantee consistent qualities for the various applications. The glass breaker, which is made of flat or bottle glass, due to the Mohs hardness of about 5 to 6 has the disadvantage of a limited application. First, it destroys due to the high impact velocities (20 to 300 m / sec), with which it impacts the surfaces to be treated. It is also due to the Mohs hardness of about 5 to 6 for certain applications only conditionally applicable, so that an application gap exists conditionally between glass blasting agents and about ceramic abrasives or metallic abrasives. If ceramic blasting agents or metallic blasting agents are used here then, no optimum work result is achieved, because the other blasting abrasives have higher Mohs hardnesses and / or other geometric shapes of the individual blasting grains. The cost of these blasting agents of higher Mohs hardness are also higher. The object of the invention is to provide a blasting abrasive for aggressive to less aggressive removal of materials, for cleaning and matting of workpiece surfaces or as an abrasive additive in liquid cutting process. This consists according to the invention of purified recycling breakage of picture tubes from televisions and monitors, which is below a permissible concentration of harmful additives such as antimony, lead, chromium, cadmium, tin, arsenic, beryllium, cobalt and nickel and their compounds. At the same time, the sum of the permissible concentrations of arsenic, beryllium, chromium, cobalt and nickel and their compounds should be undercut. The blasting agent is intended to close a technologically conditioned machining gap between the blasting agents consisting of glass breakage consisting of flat or bottle glass and blasting agents of ceramic or metals. The blasting agent should be conditionally reusable.
Furthermore, this blasting material should enable the economical and ecological use of recycling breakage of picture tubes from televisions and monitors.
According to the invention the object of providing a blasting agent is achieved in that this consists of purified recycling breakage of picture tubes from televisions and monitors, the sum of admixtures of antimony, lead, chromium cadmium, tin, arsenic, beryllium, cobalt and nickel, and their compounds is not more than 2% of the total weight and the sum of admixtures of arsenic, beryllium, chromium, cobalt, nickel and their compounds is not more than 0,2% of the total weight.
The blasting agent may be admixture or mixture with other inorganic or organic blasting agents.
Irregular edged fracture grains - hereinafter also simply referred to as "grains" - preferably uniformly shaped geometrical figures such as spherical, cubic or fibrous, for example, form the blasting medium, particularly preferred are grains having sharp bridging edges.
The abrasive preferably contains predominantly or exclusively grains in a size range of 40 thousandths of a millimeter (μητι) to 3 millimeters, or even better still 80 thousandths of a millimeter to 2.0 millimeters. Preferred grain sizes for the use of the abrasive as an additive in waterjet cutting are given below. The grains of the abrasive have a Mohs hardness of 6 to 8. The blasting agent is preferably classified according to mixture, geometrical figure, size range and Mohs hardness.
Depending on the field of application, the blasting medium preferably has grains whose ratio of length to width L / B is between 1: 1 and 5: 1. Particularly preferably, the blasting agent consists exclusively or substantially of such grains. Grains with a high L / B ratio, which can also be referred to as long grains, have a particularly high cleaning efficiency for easily adhering coatings, but have a reduced stability. Grains with a small L / B ratio have a markedly increased stability compared to conventional glass-blasting agents and at the same time a better cleaning effectiveness even with strongly adhering coatings. Depending on the surface and coating conditions, the abrasive can be adapted and optimized to the application.
Picture tubes basically have both funnel and screen glass. Funnel glass is understood to mean the rear part of the picture tube, which usually has a high lead content in order to achieve a radiation protection effect. Shield glass, on the other hand, is the front part of the picture tube, that is to say the area which has been hit by an electron beam and coated with a so-called luminous layer and thus shines. Shield glass is usually a barium strontium silicate glass. Preferably, the blasting agent of the invention contains exclusively or predominantly screen glass. This leads to a higher durability and Abrassivität.
For use as an additive in the liquid cutting process (water jet cutting) with jet nozzles of about 800 μιτι diameter blasting agent is preferred, which mainly consists of grains having a size between 200 μιτι and 400 μιτι, better still between 250 μιτι and 350 μιτι own. The term "size of a grain" is understood to mean the extent of the respective largest extent of the respective grain. The fact that the blasting agent is predominantly composed of grains within the stated size ranges is to be understood as meaning that preferably more than 90% of the grains have a size in the range between 200 μm and 350 μm and 250 μm and 350 μm, respectively. A blasting agent is preferred in which more than 95% of the grains have a size lying in one of these ranges. It has been found that in the water jet cutting, in which such a blasting agent is added to a jet of water, a great cutting performance can be achieved.
Figur 1 ein kubisches Korn, A respective blasting agent consists of a plurality of grains. Exemplary grains are shown in the figures, wherein FIG. 1 shows a cubic grain,

FIG. 1 shows a cubic grain 10 in an idealized representation. Also grains with non-square cross-section, z. For example, diamond-shaped cross-section or trapezoidal cross-section or polygonal cross-section should be understood to be cubic as long as the shape is similar to an ideal cube and the shape is not elongated. In the figure, "L" denotes the dimension defining the grain size. L in this case is an edge length of the cubic grain.
The grain 20 has generally an irregular shape, since it is formed when breaking glass. Typically, it has a variety of edges and surfaces on the surface. The grain size L in this grain is the longest distance between two points on the surface of the grain 20. The width B is defined by the next smaller dimension, which is usually transverse to the grain size L defining distance. The grain 20 shown in Figure 2 has a length to width ratio of about 4 to 1
