Abstract

Disclosed is a gear pump (10) comprising two rotating pump elements and a first housing piece (12) that includes a cavity (13) for accommodating the pump elements and a radial boundary wall (20) which lies radially outside at least one pump element and immediately adjoins the pump element. The gear pump (10) further comprises a second housing piece (14) that axially delimits the cavity (13), and a pressure compensation groove (30) that extends in the circumferential direction within the boundary wall (20). The disclosed gear pump (10) is characterized in that at least some sections of the pressure compensation groove (30) are formed by a milled surface that is inclined relative to the boundary wall (20) such that the cross-section of the pressure compensation groove (30) is at least substantially closed towards the second housing piece (14).
