Le sujet de l'invention est un dispositif sans fil et un système de transmission et de traitement de données connecté au dispositif sans fil, pour surveiller et contrôler de façon continue des fonctions vitales, cette solution permettant de réaliser une surveillance constante de personnes âgées en mauvais état de santé, respectivement de personnes âgées ayant besoin d'une surveillance constante, ou de patients sans limiter leur déplacement libre, rendant possible le contrôle continu de leurs fonctions vitales et une détermination rapide du lieu auquel envoyer de l'aide nécessaire, dans un cas donné d'envoi ou de réception d'un signal de détresse. Le dispositif de communication sans fil (WD) selon l'invention comprend des capteurs (SZ) raccordés par des interfaces (IF) appropriés pour mesurer des fonctions vitales de patients, et ledit dispositif de communication sans fil (WD) se connecte sans fil par transmission WiFi à n'importe lequel des points d'accès sans fil (AP) du système, le système comprenant en outre un serveur central (SE) qui collecte et enregistre les données reçues en provenance de certains dispositifs de communication sans fil (WD) et maintient un journal des patients, et de préférence un ordinateur personnel (PC) réalisant une commande, assurant une entrée de données et d'instructions, jouant le rôle de répartiteur, connecté au serveur (SE). La solution est caractérisée en ce que les données de référence de fonctions vitales caractéristiques du patient associé au dispositif de communication sans fil (WD) sont réglées dans le dispositif de communication sans fil (WD), en outre les données mesurées par les capteurs (SZ) sont mesurées de façon continue, stockées et transmises au serveur central (SE) dans certaines périodes de temps, en outre le dispositif de communication sans fil (WD) compare de façon continue les données mesurées aux données de référence réglées, et dans le cas où les valeurs sont supérieures aux valeurs limites, d'une part il émet un signal d'avertissement et/ou une alarme locaux, d'autre part il transmet le signal d'avertissement et/ou l'alarme au serveur central (SE).
