Abstract

L'invention porte sur un procédé pour séparer un mélange de gaz en un premier composant relativement condensable et un second composant relativement incondensable. Le premier composant comprend un ou plusieurs gaz choisis dans le groupe constitué par le dioxyde de carbone, le sulfure de carbonyle et le sulfure d'hydrogène et le second composant comprend un ou plusieurs gaz choisis dans le groupe composé de l'hydrogène, du méthane, de l'éthane, du monoxyde de carbone, de l'azote, de l'oxygène et des gaz de synthèse. Le processus lui-même comprend les étapes suivantes : (a) compression et refroidissement d'un mélange desdits premier et second composants dans au moins un compresseur et au moins un échangeur de chaleur jusqu'à une température et une pression élevée auxquelles les premiers composants se condensent, et un mélange gaz-liquide en deux phases est formé ; (b) division du mélange en deux phases ainsi formé en une première fraction composante liquide et une seconde fraction composante gazeuse séparées dans une unité de fractionnement ; (c) extraction du premier composant résiduel de la seconde fraction composante gazeuse séparée par lavage du second composant à une pression élevée avec un solvant (par exemple du méthanol) dans un laveur. Dans des exemples, le procédé comprend aussi une ou plusieurs étapes consistant à chauffer et à détendre la deuxième fraction composante gazeuse en utilisant au moins un échangeur de chaleur pour échanger de la chaleur avec un courant de traitement et au moins un turbodétendeur capable de récupérer l'énergie mécanique. Le procédé décrit a un rendement élevé en énergie et il est spécialement utilisable dans les installations électriques à hydrogène, des cycles intégrés combinés de gazéification (IGCC) et pour adoucir le gaz naturel acide.
