Abstract

A fencing system has a plurality of posts (12), each post having a longitudinally extending lip formation (18); a plurality of wire mesh fencing panels (14), with an edge portion of each fencing panel contactable with the lip formation of a post; and a plurality of elongate retaining members (16), each retaining member having a channel formation slidably engageable, in use, over a lip formation of a post and an edge portion of a fencing panel in contact therewith, thereby to retain the fencing panel against the post. The retaining members are locked in position either by means of bolts or by being an interference fit. The fencing panels have vertically oriented edge bars which engage with inner ends of the lip formations. In use, the posts are anchored in the ground at suitably spaced positions, usually with their lip formations facing outwardly, the fencing panels are placed in position against the posts and the retaining members are slid downwardly over the lip formations and associated fencing panel edge portions. If necessary, cleats are used to keep the edge portions in position whilst the retaining members are engaged with the posts.
