Description

Description
A HOUSEHOLD APPLIANCE WITH REDUCED ENERGY CONSUMPTION
[0001] The present invention relates to a household appliance whereof the energy consumption is reduced.
[0002] The state of the art household appliances comprise a control circuit that controls the elements such as the motor, panel, pump and the heater electrically. The control unit has an operation mode which provides to operate these elements and a stand-by mode to deactivate the elements. The elements not only consume energy in the operation mode but also some amount of energy is consumed in the stand-by mode due to sneak currents. The consuming of energy by the elements in the stand-by mode not only leads to energy consumption but also causes security gaps. Since the softwares generally provided in the control circuit that make diagnostic check are not active in the stand-by mode, the errors such as burning of the element cannot be detected for example in excessive increases in the mains voltage since electric continues to flow to the elements. Due to these complications experienced in the stand-by mode, a mechanical switch disposed between the control circuit and the mains entirely deactivates the household appliance by actuating a button on the household appliance.
[0003] However in household appliances that are activated and deactivated by an electronic switch, the energy of the control circuit is not desired to be cut off even if the operation mode has ended. Because, the on-off button can be activated with the control circuit and cannot be activated in the case the control circuit is deenergized.
[0004] In the state of the art Japanese Patent Application No. JP2008148955, a dishwasher is described wherein the connection of the transformer is cut off in order to reduce power consumption in the standby mode thereby preventing the transformer from receiving energy.
[0005] In the state of the art United States of America patent document no
US6330175, an embodiment relating to reducing energy consumption in the standby mode is described. In the said invention, when changed to the standby state, a unit having previously stored energy therein is used for actuating the microprocessor that continues to operate in this state. Thus, energy consumption in the standby mode is reduced. [0006] The aim of the present invention is the realization of a household appliance wherein the energy consumption is reduced safely. [0007] The household appliance realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention, explicated in the first claim and the respective claims thereof, comprises a control unit which is directly connected to the mains. The control panel wherefrom the programs are selected is energized by actuating the on-off button. After the program is selected, the elements are energized and the program is executed by actuating the start button.
Accordingly, the elements are prevented from receiving energy without the actuation of the start button. [0008] In an embodiment of the present invention, a switch is provided on the electric line that supplies electric to the elements. The switch energizes the elements when the start button is actuated.
[0009] In an embodiment of the present invention, the switch is a relay. [0010] In another embodiment of the present invention, the switch is made up of a diode group. [0011] The household appliance of the present invention can be a washing machine, a dishwasher, or a dryer. [0012] By means of the present invention, the elements are prevented from receiving energy except the operation mode, thereby providing the control panel and the elements to operate safely. [0013] A household appliance realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is illustrated in the attached figures, where: [0014] Figure 1 - is the perspective view of the household appliance of the present invention.
[0015] Figure 2 - is the schematic view of a control unit of the present invention. [0016] The elements illustrated in the figures are numbered as follows:
1. Household appliance
2. Control unit
3. On-off button
4. Elements 5. Control panel
6. Start button
7. Switch
[0017] The household appliance (1) of the present invention comprises a control unit (2) that is continuously energized by being directly connected to the mains, an on-off button (3) that allows delivery of electricity which is controlled by the control unit (2), at least one element (4) such as a pump, heater, motor etc., a control panel (5) wherefrom the program is selected, determining how the elements (4) are to operate and a start button (6) that starts and/or pauses the selected program (Figure 1).
[0018] The household appliance (1) furthermore comprises a control panel (5) that is energized when the on-off button (3) is actuated and elements (4) that are not energized by actuating the on-off button (3) but only when the start button (6) is actuated (Figure 2).
[0019] When the household appliance (1) is off, the control unit (2) is energized since it is directly connected to the mains. Accordingly, the on-off button (3) can be controlled by electricity and allows to be used as a soft touch button. However when turned off, the control unit (2) only allows the on-off button (3) to be actuated and does not allow the other elements (4), the control panel (5) and the start button (6) to be actuated. Thus, the emergence of a safety deficiency is prevented and consumption of more energy is prevented while the household appliance (1) is deactivated
[0020] When the on-off button (3) is actuated, the control panel (5) becomes available for use. As the user selects the desired program in the control panel (5) energy is still not delivered to the elements (4). This prevents the elements (4) from voltage fluctuations in the mains even in the case the household appliance (1) is forgotten to be operated.
[0021] In an embodiment of the present invention, the household appliance (1) comprises a switch (7) situated between the control unit (2) and the elements (4) that energizes the elements (4) by the start button (6). The switch (7) cuts off the electricity line between the elements (4) and the control unit (2) hence the mains until the start button (6) is pressed on. Accordingly, the elements (4) are prevented from consuming energy due to sneak currents until the start button (6) is pressed on.
[0022] In an embodiment of the present invention, the household appliance (1) comprises a switch which is a relay.
[0023] In an embodiment of the present invention, the household appliance (1) comprises a switch which is a group of diodes.
[0024] In an embodiment of the present invention, the household appliance (1) comprises a control panel (5) which is a display.
[0025] The household appliance (1) of the present invention can be a washing machine, a dishwasher, or a dryer.
[0026] In the household appliance (1) of the present invention, the on-off button (3) can be actuated by the control unit (2) by means of the control unit (2) being directly connected to the mains line. Since the control panel (5) and the start button (6) are activated by the on-off button (3), the accidental actuation of the control panel (5) or the start button (6) is prevented without actuation of the on-off button (3), thereby inhibiting energy consumption of the control panel (5). By means of the elements (4) being energized only by the actuation of the start button (6) the elements (4) are prevented from withdrawing energy earlier on due to sneak current.
[0027] It is to be understood that the present invention is not limited to the embodiments disclosed above and an expert in the technique can easily introduce different embodiments. These should be considered within the scope of the protection postulated by the claims of the present invention.
