Description

Description
A HOUSEHOLD APPLIANCE
[0001] The present invention relates to a household appliance wherein the program, which is selected when the electricity is cut off, is provided to be started when the electricity failure is over.
[0002] In household appliances with electronic card and mechanical adjustment, preferably in washers, after the program selection process is performed and the on/off button providing mains connection to the household appliance is triggered, the selected program is provided to be performed by the start button being triggered. When the electricity is cut off, the user can make the program selection, but waits for the electricity failure to be over in order to operate the selected program. This situation is an undesirable, adverse situation in terms of the user. For example, in the situation wherein the electricity is cut off, the user can make the desired program selection for the dishwasher but cannot start the process of performing the program. In such a situation, if the user needs to leave the house, the problem that the dishes will stay in the dishwasher dirty until the user comes back home is confronted.
[0003] In the state of the art Japanese Patents No JP6189886 and JP2121695, household appliances are described wherein the process being performed before the power failure is resumed when the power failure is restored.
[0004] The aim of the present invention is the realization of a household appliance wherein the program, which is selected when the electricity is cut off, is provided to be started when the electricity failure is over.
[0005] The household appliance realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is explicated in the claims.
[0006] The household appliance of the present invention comprises an input device enabling the program, which is selected by the user when the electricity is cut off, to be started when the electricity failure is over and a control unit controlling the position of the input device and providing the selected program to start automatically if the input device is in the active position.
[0007] During the electricity failure, by means of the program knob located on the user interface of the household appliance, the user selects the program, which is desired to be operated, to be started automatically when the electricity failure is over. Following the program selection, the user triggers the on/off button that provides the mains electricity to reach the household appliance by pressing it. The user finally brings the input device to the active position for the selected program to be started without requiring the user to perform any process again when the electricity failure is over. When the electricity failure is over, the control unit controls the position of the input device and if the input device is brought to the active position, the control unit starts performing the program that is selected previously.
[0008] In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the control unit is designed such that it will operate with low power consumption during electricity failure. In this embodiment of the present invention, the input device comprises a start button, the input of which is connected to the interrupt input of the control unit. In this embodiment, after triggering the program selection process and the on/off button, the user brings the start button to the active position. Thus, the control unit, which is operated in the low power consumption mode that is also named as sleep mode throughout the electricity failure, is ordered to start the preselected program when the electricity failure is over. Hence, at the end of the electricity failure, the control unit shifts to the normal operating mode by leaving the sleep mode and starts the process of performing the preselected program. Thus, without requiring an additional device, the preselected program is provided to be started automatically at the end of the electricity failure.
[0009] In an embodiment of the present invention, the input device comprises a line connected in parallel to the line whereto the start button is connected and a switch located on this line. During the electricity failure, the user, after triggering the program selection and the on/off button, brings the switch to the active position and hence gives the order required for the selected program to be started when the electricity failure is over. When the electricity failure is over, the control unit controls the position of the switch. If the switch is brought to the active position, the control unit automatically starts the program that is selected previously. [0010] The household appliance realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is illustrated in the attached figures, where: [0011] Figure 1- is the perspective view of a household appliance. [0012] The elements shown in the figures are numbered as follows:
1. Household appliance
2. User interface
3. Program selection knob
4. On/off button
5. Start button
6. Input device
7. Control unit
8. Switch
[0013] The household appliance (1) of the present invention comprises a user interface (2), a control unit (7) controlling the operation of the program steps, at least one program selection knob (3) located on the user interface (2), enabling the user to make the program selection, remaining in the position that is mechanically selected due to having a mechanical operating principle, an on/off button (4) located on the user interface (2), having a mechanical operating principle and transmitting the energy received from the mains, a start button (5) located on the user interface (2), transmitting the required signal to the control unit (7) in order to start the selected program to be performed when the program selection knob
(3) is in the position of selected program and the on/off button (4) is in the active position.
[0014] The household appliance (1) furthermore comprises an input device (6) which can have two positions being active and passive, and which enables the user to start the selected program when the electricity failure is over by being brought to the active position as the program selection knob (3) is in the position of the program desired to be performed and the on/off button
(4) is in the triggered position during the electricity failure. When the electricity failure is over, the position of the input device (6) is controlled by the control unit (7) and if the input device (6) is in the active position, the selected program is provided to be started.
[0015] After the program selection realized by means of the program selection knob (3), the user provides the energy connection to the household appliance (1) by triggering the on/off button (4) that enables the mains electricity to reach the household appliance (1). In situations wherein the mains electricity is active, after the connection between the mains and the household appliance (1) is provided by means of the on/off button (4), the desired program is enabled to be performed by the start button (5) being triggered.
[0016] After the user selects the desired program by means of the program selection knob (3) and provides the connection between the household appliance (1) and the mains electricity by triggering the on/off knob (4) in situations wherein the electricity is cut off, the user is enabled to start performing the desired program with the help of a input device (6) when the electricity failure is over. The input device (6) can have two different positions, being active and passive. In situations wherein the electricity is cut off, the user brings the input device (6) to the active position for the selected program to start automatically when the electricity failure is over. When the electricity failure is over, the control unit (7) controls the position of the input device (6) by means of the software it has. If the input device (6) is brought to the active position, the program, which is in the position whereto the program selection knob (3) is set, is provided to be started by means of the control unit (7). Thus, when the electricity failure is over, the desired program is provided to be started independently from the user without requiring the user to perform a process again. By means of the input device (6), the realization of a household appliance (1) which automatically starts operating when the electricity failure is over and hence the improvement of user satisfaction is provided.
[0017] In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the control unit (7) is designed such that it will operate in the low power consumption mode that is also named as "sleep mode" during electricity failure. In this embodiment, furthermore, the input of the start button (5) is connected to the interrupt input of the control unit (7). During the electricity failure, the user selects the program that is desired to be operated by means of the program selection knob (3) and brings the on/off button (4) to the active position by triggering it. When the program selection knob (3) and on/off button (4) are in the active position together in this way, the signal of starting the selected program is sent to the control unit (7) by the start button (5) being triggered. Since the input of the start button (5) is connected to the interrupt input of the control unit (7), the control unit (7) is awoken from the sleep mode for a very short time. The control unit (7) that is momentarily awoken from the sleep mode is provided to detect the signal of starting the selected program, which is transmitted by means of the start button (5), as if the electricity failure is over in the meantime. Thus, the control unit (7) receives the signal required for performing the preselected program when the electricity failure is over. When the electricity failure is over, the control unit (7) provides the selected program that is started during the momentarily awakening of the control unit (7) to continue by starting it from the point where it stopped as if it is unfinished due to electricity cut off. Thus, the program, which is selected when the electricity is cut off, is provided to be started automatically when the electricity failure is over without causing any incremental costs. In an embodiment of the present invention, the input device (6) comprises a line connected in parallel to the line whereto the start button (5) is connected and a switch (8) located on this line. Located preferably on the user interface (2), the switch (8) is brought to the active position when the program selection knob (3) and on/off button (4) are in the active position together and hence enables the selected program to be started when the electricity failure is over. During the electricity failure, after completing the processes of selecting the desired program by means of the program selection knob (3) and of triggering the on/off button (4), the user triggers the switch (8) and hence gives the order of starting the selected program when the electricity failure is over. When the electricity failure is over, the control unit (7) controls the position of the switch (8). If the switch (8) is brought to the active position by being triggered, the control unit (7) starts the operation of the program that is selected previously. [0019] For example, in the situation wherein the household appliance (1) is a dishwasher, after disposing the dirty dishes into the dishwasher, the user first of all selects the program desired to be operated by means of the program selection knob (3) located on the user interface (2), although the electricity is cut off. Then, the user provides the connection of the dishwasher to the mains by triggering the on/off button (4). The user finally triggers the switch (8) and hence gives the order required for the washing process of the dishes to be started when the electricity failure is over. When the electricity failure is over, the control unit (7) controls the position of the switch (8) and obtains the data of the switch (8) being brought to the active position. Based on this data, the control unit (7) starts the preselected program when the electricity failure is over. Thus, when the electricity failure is over, dirty dishes are provided to be washed without requiring the user to perform any process again.
[0020] By means of the household appliance (1) of the present invention, a more useful household appliance (1) is realized for the user by providing the program selected when the electricity is cut off to be started automatically when the electricity failure is over.
[0021] It is to be understood that the present invention is not limited to the embodiments disclosed above and a person skilled in the art can easily introduce different embodiments. These should be considered within the scope of the protection postulated by the claims of the present invention.
