Abstract

The invention relates to a folding box for forming an ashtray, having a floor, a top lying above said floor and comprising a cover for opening the folding box, and a front wall and a rear wall for connecting the floor to the top, characterized in that the front wall and the rear wall are each divided by folding lines running between the floor and the top into two upper and lower parts that can be folded toward each other, and that the folding box can be set up into an approximately pillow-shaped usage position in which the floor and the top are spaced apart from each other, from a folded-up position in which the upper and lower parts of the front wall and the rear wall are folded together and the floor and the top lie flat on each other.

FOLDING BOX FOR FORMING AN ASHTRAY

The present invention relates to a folding box for forming an ashtray, according to the preamble of claim 1.

Folding carton ashtrays are inexpensive to manufacture and are therefore popular promotional gifts or additions to the sale of tobacco products. The carton is usually provided with a heat-resistant metal coating on its inside. After use, it can be closed by the lid on its top and disposed of with all contents.

There is a desire to store the carton ashtray space-saving before their use and so to be able to keep a larger number in stock in a small space. Previously, this need was insufficiently met, since the space requirement of the known models always depends on their dimensions in use.

This object is achieved by a carton to form an ashtray with the features of claim 1.

The front wall and the rear wall of the carton according to the invention are divided by folding lines in upper and lower parts, which can be folded on each other. From a folded position in which these parts of the front and rear wall and the bottom and the top of the box are directly adjacent to each other, the carton can be erected in an approximately pillow-shaped use position in which the floor and the ceiling are spaced from each other are and include a volume. This erection may e.g. by slight pressure against the fold lines between the upper and lower parts of the front wall and the rear wall, which in the folded position form front and rear outer edges of the box.

The carton according to the invention has the advantage that, despite its small footprint in the folded position, it offers a relatively large receiving volume in the use position. The front wall 32 is divided halfway up the folding box 10 by a horizontal folding line 44 in two halves.
