- the cover device 10 shown in Figures 1, 2, 4 and 5 has mitred corners 52 formed between each of side parts 20 and 22 and the foot end part 24.
- the mitred corners 52 may be fixed by stitching or with releaseable fixing means such as hook and loop fasteners or studs. They may simply be folded. When fixed, the mitred corners 52 are held 1 in place, and they can be pulled up when adjusting the level of the lower edge 54 of the side panels 14 and 16, and the foot end panel 18. By pulling up, more fabric is placed under the mattress 118. If they are not fixed, the lower edge 54 can be extended towards the ground level.
- the cover device 10 uses less fabric than a traditional valance and is much easier to place on a mattress support unit and remove therefrom.
- the cover device 10 is made from just one piece of fabric and not gathered. As such, it is less likely to be caught up in the sheets when making the bed. Also the lack of gathers gives it a more contemporary appearance.
