Abstract
The invention relates to the field of medicine, more specifically to an antenna applicator and device for determining changes in temperature in the internal tissues of a biological subject, and can be used for non-invasive, early identification of a risk of cancer. The antenna applicator comprises a length of waveguide which is partially or completely filled with a dielectric and has one closed end and an opposite open end which is brought into contact with the biological subject, a system for exciting electromagnetic waves which is arranged in the waveguide between the closed end of the waveguide and the dielectric and is connected to an input section of a microwave radio thermometer, and a skin temperature sensor, which is arranged at the open end of the waveguide and is designed to be capable of transmitting information to a computer. The device for determining changes in temperature comprises, in addition to the antenna applicator, a microwave radio thermometer, which measures the intensity of a signal arriving from the output of the antenna, which signal is proportional to the brightness temperature of the tissues of the biological subject, and a computer, which is designed to be capable of receiving information from the skin temperature sensor and from the microwave radio thermometer and of determining a change in temperature in the internal tissues. The invention also proposes a method for determining changes in the internal tissues and a method for determining changes in the internal tissues over time, as well as a method for identifying a high risk of cancer, in particular breast cancer, in a biological subject.
