Abstract

A column (3), a shaft, a pillar, a balk or another construction (13) realized mainly as a profile construction that functions as a part of a lighting device, a road sign, an advertising medium, a bar or a fence and has a hollow inside construction so that electric cables can be installed inside it and that has a lighting device adjusted inside its hollow profile construction. The profile construction (3) is made of material that lets the light through and it is adjusted to be a supporting construction regarding its purpose of use.

Description

A COLUMN OF PROFILE CONSTRUCTION
The invention relates to a column, a pole, a pillar, a balk or other construction realized mainly as a profile construction which construction functions as a part of a lighting device, a road sign, an advertising medium, a bar or a fence and has a hollow inside construction so that electric cables can be connected inside it and it has a lighting device adjusted inside its hollow profile construction.
Previously a column equipped with a lighting device and showing information is known for example from the patent publication US 7,150,117 B2 in which publication a hollow, metallic column is shown inside which a lighting device and a barrel that lets light through has been installed at the location where there are holes in the metallic column and where it is desired that the light goes out of the column. The metallic column functions as the supporting structure. With the lighting information can be shown in such a way that holes based on the form of the desired letters are made to the metallic column in which case words can be achieved with the help of the penetrating light. With the help of a barrel located inside the metallic case and letting the light through the light can achieve various colours. A possibility for coating the column with a transparent, external barrel is shown as well.
The disadvantage of this solution is the fact that the formed light holes made to the metallic column are difficult to manufacture and they are usually final without any variation possibility. If one wants to show any other information, the column needs to be changed. Also the light information in the column is located at the original location and changing of it higher or to the opposite side of the column is not possible to make easily.
With the new column according to the invention realized as a profile structure the above mentioned problems are mainly solved and it is characteristic of the profile structure according to the invention that the profile structure is made of a material that lets the light through and it is adjusted to be a supporting construction in its purpose of use.
The advantage of the a column, a shaft, a pillar or a balk with a profile structure according to the invention is the fact that the disadvantages caused by the body of the metallic column are removed and while the supporting body lets the light through, the light and if needed - the information given by it can be directed through the column at each location of the column and if needed - the light can be prevented from going through at certain locations. The profile structure according to the invention is weather resistant as a composite construction and light and as a column it can be manufactured in such a way that it fulfills the safety features also at its lower part. When the outermost, supporting profile structure lets the light through and when the intelligent information screen realized with the light is formed inside the profile with the help of the barrels or plates that do not let the light through, the information formed like that can easily be changed, its output point in the column construction can be changed or can also be rotated around inside the column.

Figure 1 shows a lighting column according to the invention as a side view. Figure 2 shows another light pillar according to the invention. Figure 3 shows a column and a rotatable barrel installed inside it. Figure 4 shows a light construction according to the invention.
hi the figure 2 a lighting column is shown to which a metallic base 1 belongs and an inner support 2 of the column 3 with a profile structure rising a little bit upwards from it. The column 3 has a composite construction structure that is strengthened with fibers and bound with resin and the quality of the resin is chosen to be such a quality that it lets enough light through. There is a lighting device at the upper part of the column and inside the hollow structure there is a connected cable 6 for the lighting device. Lighting devices, such as LED- lighting devices or fluorescence tubes can be located inside the column 3 at the desired locations. The enlargement shows as an example one information area 5 that is shown inside the column 3 with the help of a lighting device located at the location of the column. In order to show information attenuation of the light penetration corresponding the information or a block or an information surface installed at the corresponding location inside the column can be laminated to the column material. It is also possible that there are directly LED lamps inside the column which LED lamps are aligned to form the information in question with the help of the light.
The column in the figure 1 can in one case be totally lit at its body with some suitable luminosity.
hi the figure 2 one pillar 3 is shown that can have various purposes of use. In this example the pillar 3 is totally illuminating and the invention makes it possible that with the help of the internal lighting devices, for example several lighting devices or LED-series one can have all kinds of variations regarding the appearance of the pillar 3. The pillar can for example have sections 7 — 10 in various colours and naturally also information parts shown as numbers or texts. This pillar also has a profile structure that lets the light through according to the invention as a self supporting structure.
The parts that don't let the light through used for showing the information inside the column are also easy to install to be moveable especially in the direction of the column or if for example the part with barrels 12 shown in the figure 3 is used, they can also to be arranged to be rotatable by adjusting a rotating device 11 for them inside the column. For example the upper part of the column can be arranged in such a way that various lighting devices can be changed inside the column through it and various devices that don't let the light through with the help of which various information can be achieved can be changed inside the column.
Figure 4 shows a light construction 13 attached to a bridge 14 which light construction is attached outside the bridge and constructions made of transparent material directed upwards start from the attachment points which constructions are joined to each other above the bridge. Lighting devices can be adjusted inside the construction with various known methods which lighting devices send light through the construction 13 for example throughout the whole construction.
With the profile construction according to the invention the stalked lighting devices, guides, signs, decoration balks, bars, fences etc. located at the routes can be manufactured with the above said way and if needed - they can be manufactured to let the light through more or less.

Claims

1. A column (3), pole, pillar, balk or another construction (13) realized mainly as a profile construction that functions as a part of a lighting device, a road sign, an advertising medium, a bar or a fence and has a hollow inside construction so that electric cables can be installed inside it and that has a lighting device adjusted inside its hollow profile construction, characterized in that the profile construction (3) is made of material that lets the light through and it is adjusted to be a supporting construction regarding its purpose of use.
2. A column (3), pole, pillar or balk according to the claim 1, characterized in that the profile construction is made of composite material without colour pigment- or filling material additions that block or essentially prevent the light from getting through.
3. A column (3), pole, pillar or balk according to the claim 1, characterized in that the lighting of the profile construction is adjusted to show information.
4. A column (3), pole, pillar or balk according to the claim 1, characterized in that by preventing the light from getting through partly or completely regarding the profile construction at the desired locations the desired information can be shown.
5. A column (3), pole, pillar tai balk according to the claim 1, characterized in that figures showing the information that don't let the light through or let the light partly through have been integrated to the profile construction.
6. A column (3), pole, pillar tai balk according to the claim 1, characterized in that immovable or moveable barrels (12) have been adjusted inside the profile construction with the help of which barrels one can have an effect on the light penetration and can have an effect on the formation of the figures.
