- FIG. 2 shows an example of a control signaling sequence related to an IP multimedia session based on the conventional technique (processing defined in Non-Patent Document 2).
- step S2001 the UE (100) is initially connected to the SGW1 (115), and performs an IP multimedia service session via the P-CSCF1 (121) and the S-CSCF / AS (125). Established.
- step S2003 it is assumed that the UE (100) moves to a new location (UE (position 101) in FIG. 1) .
- step S2005 the UE (101) performs mobility by the network at the new location.
- the same address as that in use is acquired, that is, the UE (101) is connected to the SGW2 (117), and is the same from the same P-GW (119) via the mobility-managed network. Get the IP address.
- the UE (101) attempts to perform a P-CSCF search process in step S2007 and Find P-CSCF2 (123) corresponding to the location.
- This process may be, for example, a DNS query or a DHCP query.
- the UE (101) Since the P-CSCF search process obtains a different P-CSCF address (that is, the P-CSCF2 (123) address, not the P-CSCF1 (121) address used in the UE (100)), the UE (101) starts a registration process as defined in Non-Patent Document 2. That is, in step S2009, the UE (101) transmits an IMS_Register (IMS registration) message to the new P-CSCF2 (123).
- IMS registration IMS registration
- the P-CSCF 2 (123) Upon reception of this IMS_Register message, the P-CSCF 2 (123) starts a search process for an S-CSCF appropriate for the UE (101) as shown in step S2011, and an S-CSCF (appropriate for the UE (101) That is, S-CSCF / AS (125)) is specified.
- the P-CSCF (123) performs necessary processing as defined in Non-Patent Document 2, and then transfers an IMS_Register message to the S-CSCF / AS (125) in step S2013.
- authentication processing is executed.
- S-CSCF / AS (125) sends a 401 message (Unauthorized: a message notifying that authentication is necessary) to UE (101). Start by replying.
- the authentication processing includes a plurality of message exchange round trips.
- the S-CSCF / AS (125) checks the user profile in step S2017, and controls service such as recording user information in the database or registering it in an arbitrary event. I do.
- the S-CSCF / AS (125) returns an IMS_Accept (IMS acceptance) message to the UE (101).
- IMS_Accept message is transmitted to the UE (101) via the P-CSCF2 (123). Transferred.
- the UE (101) transmits an IMS_INVITE (IMS invitation) message via the P-CSCF2 (123) and the S-CSCF / AS (125) as shown in steps S2023 and S2025.
- IMS_INVITE IMS invitation
- Signaling for the session update is initiated by transmitting towards the other end (eg CN).
- the S-CSCF / AS (125) processes the message, for example, by updating a remote access leg, and returns a response to the UE (101) by an IMS_Accept message.
- the signaling process is a main process related to registration and authentication performed before the process of actually updating the session (that is, the processes of steps S2023 to S2029). Since these registration and authentication signaling processes (that is, the processes in steps S2007 to S2021) take a long time, there is a possibility that a delay will occur in the session update after the handover. In addition, signaling messages related to these registration and authentication signaling processes may burden the network traffic and increase the power consumption by the UE (101).
- the P-CSCF2 (123) discovered in step S2007 is only a P-CSCF corresponding to the new location of the UE (101), and actually the UE (101) session is continued.
- the P-CSCF is not optimal for handling.
- the S-CSCF / AS (125) rejects the registration in step S2021, which causes the UE (101) to perform the registration process again, so that more signaling messages are transmitted and received.

- the UE (101) may use an IP-based search mechanism such as DNS or DHCP, for example. It should be apparent to those skilled in the art that the mechanism used to obtain the address of P-CSCF2 (123) does not affect the basic concept of the present invention.
- the UE (101) obtains the address or identification information of the P-CSCF2 (123), and then compares it with the stored address or identification information of the P-CSCF (ie, P-CSCF1 (121)) before handover. I do.
- the UE (101) performs a special signaling process.
- the UE (101) transmits a normal session control signaling message (for example, an IMS_INVITE message to the P-CSCF2 (123)) as shown in step S3009.
- a normal session control signaling message for example, an IMS_INVITE message to the P-CSCF2 (123)
- the IMS_INVITE message is an INVITE message as defined in Non-Patent Documents 2 and 3.
- the IMS_INVITE message transmitted in step S3009 is sent to the open port of P-CSCF2 (123). That is, it is not necessary to make a connection in advance.
- the UE (101) acquires port information, for example, as part of the P-CSCF2 address information included in the DHCP query response.
- the UE (101) uses an arbitrary well-known port (for example, an open port defined in Non-Patent Document 3). To do.
- the IMS_INVITE message transmitted in step S3009 includes some additional flags and information elements.
- a list of examples of additional flags and information elements included in the IMS_INVITE message transmitted in step S3009 is shown below.
- a flag that initially instructs to send an IMS_INVITE message without registering at the new location, a special sequence used for response matching, and the UE (101) is the current P-CSCF (eg P-CSCF2 ( 123)) an index indicating acceptance of a system that selects a different P-CSCF ⁇
- Information elements related to P-CSCF before handover for example, including address and port number
- information that allows a new registration to be performed-Local information elements that the UE (101) uses to update the IP multimedia session eg, a new set of parameters for the media
- An application session information element that includes application session control parameters related to session updates. This part of the message can be encrypted using a security association between the UE (101) and the P-CSCF1 (121).
- the P-CSCF2 (123) grasps from the flag that this message is transmitted without first performing registration processing.
- the P-CSCF2 (123) reads the information of the P-CSCF before the handover (that is, the P-CSCF1 (121)) from the corresponding information element.
- P-CSCF2 (123) prepares for sending an IMS_INVITE message toward P-CSCF1 (121) according to the address information acquired from the message.
- the P-CSCF2 (123) updates the local information element based on the received IMS_INVITE message. For example, the P-CSCF2 (123) adds the address information of the P-CSCF2 (123) itself, local access network information, local access information of the UE (101), and the like to the local information element.
- the P-CSCF2 (123) may update the security information element as necessary.
- the P-CSCF2 (123) may establish a further security association by storing an arbitrary location (for example, a nonce value) of the security information provided from the UE (101).
- the P-CSCF2 (123) may insert an additional security vector for authenticating the P-CSCF2 (123) into the information element by the S-CSCF / AS (125).
- the P-CSCF2 (123) transfers an IMS_INVITE message to the P-CSCF1 (121) using the address indicated by the UE (101) in step S3013.
- the P-CSCF2 (123) may transmit a message by reusing any relationship that already exists with the P-CSCF1 (121). For example, the P-CSCF2 (123) does not check whether the source address of the IMS_INVITE message transmitted in step S3013 matches the address registered last by the user without the P-CSCF1 (121) confirming whether It is possible to use a special port of P-CSCF1 (121) where CSCF1 (121) accepts this IMS_INVITE message.
- the P-CSCF1 (121) When the P-CSCF1 (121) finds a flag indicating that registration is not performed in the IMS_INVITE message transmitted in step S3013, the P-CSCF1 (121) normally receives the IMS_INVITE message as if it was received directly from the UE (101). The same processing is performed. However, when this IMS_INVITE message is updated, the P-CSCF1 (121) adds information added by the P-CSCF2 (123) (for example, the address of the P-CSCF2 (123) in the local information element, the security vector, etc.) Is not overwritten.
- information added by the P-CSCF2 (123) for example, the address of the P-CSCF2 (123) in the local information element, the security vector, etc.
- the P-CSCF1 (121) exists in an order such that the information added by the P-CSCF2 (123) indicates that the P-CSCF2 (123) is the P-CSCF closest to the UE (101) It is confirmed from the array of addresses in the record route header (Record-Route header), for example.
- the P-CSCF 1 (121) proceeds to the S-CSCF / AS (125) in accordance with the record regarding the user and the session in step S3015. Forward the IMS_INVITE message.
- the S-CSCF / AS (125) receives the IMS_INVITE message transmitted in step S3015, the S-CSCF / AS (125) further registers other than the IMS_INVITE message being a normal session update message from the flag indicating that the registration is not performed. Presumed to be also for updating.
- the S-CSCF / AS (125) performs user profile update and service control in the same manner as when a normal INVITE message is received. For example, in this process, timer refresh, session remote access leg update, and the like are performed. At the same time, the S-CSCF / AS (125) also searches for the P-CSCF2 (123) inserted in the IMS_INVITE message.
- Registration update is performed mainly based on information provided from P-CSCF2 (123). For example, the process of storing the address or identification information of the P-CSCF2 (123) in the S-CSCF / AS (125), the allocation of a new temporary ID to the UE (101), the update of the security association, etc. are performed. . Further, for example, the S-CSCF / AS (125) may assign a new T-GRUU (temporary Globally Routable UA URI) to the UE (101).
- T-GRUU temporary Globally Routable UA URI
- the S-CSCF / AS (125) After performing the session update and registration process, the S-CSCF / AS (125) returns a response to the UE (101) with an IMS_Accept message as shown in step S3019. Since the address of the P-CSCF2 (123) is stored in the S-CSCF / AS (125) after the registration process is performed, the IMS_Accept message transmitted in step S3019 is not P-CSCF1 (121). , P-CSCF2 (123).
- the IMS_Accept message includes two parameter sets (for session update and for registration). Also, for example, there can be two sets of result codes for two processes.
- the S-CSCF / AS (125) may insert an additional parameter in the response, for example, an SDP (Session Description Protocol) object, for the session update. Further, the S-CSCF / AS (125) may insert an arbitrary security object or key material (keying materials) related to the P-CSCF2 (123) in the response regarding the registration process.
- SDP Session Description Protocol
- the S-CSCF / AS (125) needs to include a special sequence value included in the IMS_INVITE message in the response (that is, the IMS_Accept message transmitted in step S3019). For example, the following is mentioned as an example of the information inserted in the IMS_Accept message transmitted in step S3019.
- the UE (101) is used for matching a response to a request, and is copied from the IMS_INVITE message transmitted in step S3015.
- Special sequence values S-CSCF / AS (125) address or identification information element Result code for session update processing Result code for registration update processing S-CSCF / AS (125 to continue session ) P-CSCF identification information element indicating the selected P-CSCF.
- the P-CSCF2 (123) After receiving the IMS_Accept message in step S3019, the P-CSCF2 (123) checks the P-CSCF identification information element in the IMS_Accept message, and if it is equal to its own identification information, transfers it to the UE (101). It inserts its own address information (eg, IP address, port number, corresponding encryption algorithm, etc.) used in further communications into the message.
- own address information eg, IP address, port number, corresponding encryption algorithm, etc.
- the P-CSCF (123) creates a record relating to the UE (101) and stores necessary information (for example, S-CSCF / AS (125) ) To generate a key for subsequent communication with the UE, as defined in Non-Patent Document 2 regarding registration. Note that some information is generated from information acquired from the IMS_INVITE message in step S3009.
- the P-CSCF 2 (123) deletes any information element (for example, a charging instruction or a security vector) unnecessary for the UE (101).
- the P-CSCF2 (123) transfers the IMS_Accept message thus changed to the UE (101). If necessary, the P-CSCF2 (123) may use security protection for the IMS_Accept message transmitted to the UE (101).
- the UE (101) Upon receiving the IMS_Accept message in step S3021, the UE (101) performs matching and reading of the state stored in the IMS_INVITE message transmitted in step S3009 based on the sequence value. If security protection is available, the UE (101) verifies the message using the security information associated with the state, and generates a key necessary for subsequent communication. Further, the UE (101) stores the address information (IP address, port number, etc.) of the P-CSCF2 (123) embedded in the IMS_Accept message transmitted in step S3021. At the same time, the UE (101) updates the application configuration using the SDP information in the IMS_Accept message transmitted in step S3021.

- the local information element for example, local access network information
- the S-CSCF / AS (125) has determined that the P-CSCF1 (121) is better suited to support session continuity even after the UE has performed a handover. And In this case, the S-CSCF / AS (125) performs a registration update for the P-CSCF1 (121) determined to be more appropriate (for example, refreshing the corresponding timer).
- the following conditions can be given as examples that the S-CSCF / AS (125) can use as a criterion for determining an appropriate P-CSCF for the UE (101). For example, any one or more of the following conditions are selected based on a policy set by the user and / or the operator.
- Load status of P-CSCF for example, load balancing

- Access type for example, CS (Circuit Switched) or PS (Packet Switched)
- CS Circuit Switched
- PS Packet Switched
- the S-CSCF / AS (125) performs the necessary processing such as registration update, remote access leg update, security association update, etc., for the IMS_INVITE message, and then selected as shown in step S4019.
- a response message is transmitted to the optimum P-CSCF (that is, P-CSCF1 (121)).

- the P-CSCF1 (121) After receiving the IMS_Accept message transmitted in step S4019, the P-CSCF1 (121) identifies the identification information of the selected P-CSCF (that is, the identification of the P-CSCF1 (121)) included in this message. If the information) is known to be equal to its own, the corresponding status entry of the UE (101) is updated (for example, timer refresh, key update, etc.).
- the P-CSCF1 (121) inserts address information (eg, IP address and port number used by the UE (101), protocol used, security method, etc.) into the IMS_Accept message transferred to the UE (101). .
- address information eg, IP address and port number used by the UE (101), protocol used, security method, etc.
- information key material or the like
- the P-CSCF1 (121) deletes any information (charging instruction, network information, etc.) unnecessary for the UE (101) from the IMS_Accept message.
- the IMS_Accept message processed in this way is transferred from the P-CSCF1 (121) to the UE (101) as shown in step S4021.
- the UE (101) uses the sequence value to perform matching and reading of the state stored when the IMS_INVITE message (4009) is transmitted in step S4009. If security protection can be used, the UE (101) verifies the message using the security information associated with the state, and generates a key necessary for subsequent communication. Further, the UE (101) stores address information (IP address, port number, etc.) of the P-CSCF1 (121) used for subsequent communications. At the same time, the UE (101) updates the application configuration using the SDP information in the IMS_Accept message transmitted in step S4021.
- FIG. 5 shows still another example of the operation according to the first embodiment of the present invention.
- the processing in steps S5001 to S5007 is the same as the processing in steps S3001 to S3007 in FIG.
- step S5009 the UE (101) transmits an IMS_Register message to the P-CSCF2 (123). Note that due to the nature of the Register message, the UE (101) can transmit the IMS_Register message toward the open port of the P-CSCF2 (123).
- An example of information included in the IMS_Register message (5009) is as follows.

- the P-CSCF2 (123) When the P-CSCF2 (123) receives the IMS_Register message transmitted in step S5009, the P-CSCF2 (123) checks for the presence of a flag indicating integration of registration and session update. If the flag exists, the P-CSCF2 (123) skips the standard S-CSCF search process (that is, skips the registration process to the S-CSCF by the P-CSCF2 (123)).
- the P-CSCF2 (123) acquires the information of the P-CSCF before the handover from the IMS_Register message transmitted in step S5009, and performs a process of transferring the message toward the designated address.

- the P-CSCF2 (123) transfers the IMS_Register message to the P-CSCF1 (121) using the address indicated by the UE (101) as shown in step S5013.
- the P-CSCF2 (123) can transmit the IMS_Register message toward the open port of the P-CSCF1 (121) due to the nature of the Register message.
- the P-CSCF1 (121) Upon receiving the IMS_REGISTER message transmitted in step S5013, the P-CSCF1 (121) detects a flag indicating registration and session update integration. If the flag exists, the P-CSCF1 (121) recognizes the UE (101) based on the identification information of the UE (100) indicated in the IMS_REGISTER message in step S5013. Check if you can. When it is possible to recognize the UE (101) from the identification information of the UE (100), the P-CSCF1 (121) reads the state of the UE (100) using the identification information of the UE (100). .
- P-CSCF1 (121) specifies the application session information element in the IMS_REGISTER message in step S5013, and decrypts it using the key associated with the UE state. Then, the P-CSCF1 (121) processes the IMS_REGISTER message in step S5013 as if this IMS_REGISTER message is a session update message (for example, an IMS_INVITE message). After the session update process, the P-CSCF1 (121) transfers a message to the S-CSCF / AS (125) using the state information of the UE (100) in step S5015.
