Abstract

An absorption refrigeration system and a process for producing refrigeration using the system, wherein the system comprises two thermally coupled loops (102, 202) - each loop comprising a working fluid, a reboiler (104, 204), a distillation column (106, 206), a condenser (108, 208), an evaporator (112, 212) and an absorber (118, 218), a bleed heat exchanger (114, 214), a refrigerant heat exchanger (116, 216) and a solution heat exchanger (120, 220); wherein each of the first and second reboiler is provided with a low grade heat and providing at least one pressure regulating (110, 210) means selected from at least one valve, a plurality of pressure pumps and/or an inert component in the absorption refrigeration system.
