Abstract

The invention describes a disposable patient transfer assembly comprising a first or uppermost- in-use layer (10), a second or intermediate layer (11) and a third or lowermost-in-use layer (12), wherein said first layer (10) is adapted to minimise the damage to a patient's skin when disposed against the skin of a patient, said second layer (11) is liquid absorbent and said third layer (12) is adapted to be substantially impermeable to the passage of fluids. It also describes a disposable mat assembly comprising a first or uppermost-in-use layer (131), a second or intermediate layer (132) and a third or lowermost-in-use layer (133), wherein said first layer (131) is adapted to be resistant to tearing when walked on, said second layer (132) is liquid absorbent and said third layer (133) is adapted to be substantially impermeable to the passage of fluids. Said mat assembly further comprises a fourth, adhesive layer.
