Abstract

The present invention comprises: an image input means for inputting a plurality of image data in which the same subject has been imaged; an image synthesizing means for generating synthesized image data by synthesizing the plurality of image data input through the image input means; a synthesis processing range selection means which selects one of the plurality of image data as reference image data, compares the image quality of the reference image data with the synthesized image data in a sub-region, and selects a synthesis processing range which includes a sub-region in which the image quality of the synthesized image data is superior to that of the reference image data; and a high-resolution-image generation means for generating a high-resolution image by synthesizing the synthesized image data of the synthesis processing range selected by the synthesis processing range selection means with the reference image data outside the synthesis processing range. As a result, deteriorations in image quality caused by variations between a plurality of imaging devices may be reduced while synthesizing high-resolution images at a high speed.
