Abstract

The present invention relates to an airbag having a multilayer structure. In detail, the airbag includes (1) at least two or more cushion units which are set to withstand different levels of pressure; (2) a gas supply unit for supplying gas to the at least two or more cushion units; and (3) a control unit for sensing the pressure being applied to each of the cushion units and deploying each of the cushion units in accordance with a predetermined condition. The airbag having a multilayer structure according to the present invention has an airbag cushion with an interior configured into multiple layers with pressure levels different from each other. Each of the multiple layers is equipped with a pressure sensor and a gas outlet port such that cushion layers are inflated in series starting from the outermost cushion layer upon sensing a pressure higher than a preset pressure level, thus preventing secondary accidents and damages caused by the pressure of the airbag.
