Abstract

The invention relates to a paper machine comprising at least one predrying section (PDS) equipped with at least one driving group (PDS_m-1, PDS_m), each of which has at least one drying cylinder (Z) for drying a paper web (PB). In order to automatically determine the speed relations between the driving groups, a method comprising the following steps is provided: measured values such as, in particular, speeds of the driving groups (PDS_m-1, PDS_m), the surface-related mass of the paper web (PB), humidity measurements downstream of the last drying cylinder (Z) of the predrying section (PDS), and/or steam pressures in the drying cylinders (Z) are provided; the humidity (u) of the paper web (PB) is calculated from the measured values downstream of each drying cylinder (Z); at least one web expansion (Epsilon) is calculated from a humidity-dependent modulus of elasticity (E) and at least one predefined desired web tension (Sigma); and the speed relations are calculated from the at least one web expansion (Epsilon).
