  • the mechanism according to the invention operates as the drug blister strip is winded from one place to another. During this movement, drug blisters are opened at a specified point and become ready for inspiration in an ideal air flow by a patient. There is also a counter working in the provided mechanism in order to allow the follow up how many blisters are inspired.
  • the mechanism conceals the piece contacting the mouth by a cap. After the use of each drug blister, the blister strip is separated and pulls the split for separating and opening a new drug blister to be ready for a new inhalation.

  • the mechanism according to the invention which fulfills several jobs at the same time, it is aimed to make the manual use of the device easier, than the known examples of the prior art, since the patient population of the device comprising the mechanism includes the children and elderly.
  • a sliding mechanism actuates the mechanism and the drug cannot be inhaled until the slide is pulled completely. It is possible to pull half of the slide and wrongfully think that the drug is ready to use during daily use or while using during attack.
  • the actuated mechanism makes clear that the device is ready for inhalation by revealing the mouthpiece by opening the cap or that it needs triggering and the device is not ready to use by concealing the mouthpiece entirely. When the device is not ready for use, a mouth contact with the device cannot be possible. This mechanism that conceals the mouthpiece also renders the system more hygienic since the device can be carried around in a pocket and it is used manually.

  • Winding gear (02), Counter Gear (03), Inner Gear (04), Tension Gear (05), Stretch Gear (06), Drive Gear (07), Pinion (08), Inner Gear (09), Rim (14), Bottom Gear (17) and Motion Gear (21) compose the mechanism that is actuated by pressing the trigger (15) All of these parts and the blister strip comprising the dry powder drug are mounted on parts 01, 10 and 18. They are rendered functional by 01 and 18 being grouped together.
  • the winding spring (01) that compresses the rim causes the rim to act as a bed for the pressure spring (16) while being pushed by the trigger.
  • the work string enables the rim to withstand the tension caused by the pressure spring and to be released upon second actuation of the trigger.
  • the mechanism is actuated by pressing the trigger (15).
  • the mechanism pulls the drug containing blister strip from one compartment to the other compartment on the jacket (10).

  • the movable cap (20) is detached from the mouthpiece (19) and reveals it.
  • the counter gear (03) advances by a step and increments the number by one that is visible through the window (01) found on the bottom cap.
  • the pressure spring (16) between the trigger (15) and rim (14) gets loaded.
  • the string (13) locks the rim as the trigger is fully depressed. When the locking operation is over, the drug containing blister strip is fully advanced to the proper position with the revealed drug.
  • the drug blister on the strip now resides in front of the mouth piece and the dry powder is ready for inhalation.
  • the movable cap (20) is now fully detached from the mouthpiece (19), residing in a position that cannot interfere with the inhalation process..
  • the drug is then inhaled.
  • the patient actuates the trigger a second time solely for releasing the work string (13) and the rim (14). Since the work string's (13) restriction is over, pressure spring (16) is released at the opposite direction of the trigger action.
  • the trigger (15) rapidly slides back to its original place.
  • the mechanism attached to the trigger closes the movable cap (20) and enables the mouthpiece (19) to be concealed.
  • the system is now ready and safe for the next inhalation cycle.
  • the device having the mechanism according to the invention is preferably used for inhalation of drugs such as beta-2agonists, corticosteroids, anti-cholinergic agents, antimuscarinics, antiallergics and antibiotics, for the treatment of pulmonary diseases or local treatment of pulmonary diseases like asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases.
