  • the device comprises a mounting means 1 which in the embodiment depicted takes the form of an oblong platelike element 3 with bent-over ends. As illustrated in Fig. 3, each of the bent-over ends comprises a number of right-angled bends which define an end portion 5 of the mounting means 1, which end portions 5 are situated on one side of the basic portion of the platelike element 3. The free ends of the two end portions 5 which form part of the mounting means 1 are directed towards one another.
  • the device according to the present invention comprises also a disc 7 fastened rotatably to the mounting means 1 via a bearing means 9.
  • the disc 7 is situated on the same side of the basic portion of the platelike element 3 as the end portions 5.
  • the bearing means 9 has to be so configured that the disc 7 can easily be caused to rotate relative to the mounting means 1.
  • the disc 7 is provided, on the side facing the observer, with reflectors 10 or luminous means, which reflectors 10 are situated diametrically on the disc 7.
  • the reflectors 10 have a relatively limited diameter, and by way of non-limitative example it may be mentioned that they may have a diameter of the order of 5 cm.
  • the reflectors 10 are preferably countersunk in the disc 7. Fig.
  • the disc 7 of the device according to the present invention is so configured that the disc 7, when the device is observed in plan view, automatically places itself in the position of rest depicted in Fig. 1 when the disc 7 is not subject to any external influence.
  • the reason why the disc 7 automatically places itself in the position of rest depicted in Fig. 1 is that the centre of gravity of the disc 7 is not at the centre of the disc 7, so gravitation automatically places the disc 7 in the position of rest depicted in Fig. 1.
  • Fig. 4 has a double arrow P representing movement of the disc 7 away from its position of rest, resulting in the reflectors 10 not being situated behind the mounting means 1 but instead being exposed to an observer.

  • a person waiting for a bus sees the bus approaching, he/she causes the disc 7 to rotate by taking hold of it and manually putting it into rotation.
  • the attention of the bus driver will thus be drawn by the reflectors 10 to the fact that a would-be passenger is waiting at the stop.
  • the disc 7 reverts to its position of rest, in which the reflectors 10 are masked.
  • the embodiment of the device according to the present invention depicted in Figs. 7 and 8 differs from the embodiment described above in the configuration of the mounting means 101. As illustrated in Figs.
  • the mounting means 101 comprises two generally oblong first and second platelike elements 103A and 103B respectively with bent-over first and second end portions 105A and 105B respectively.
  • Each of the platelike elements 103A and 103B is provided with bent-over end portions 105A and 105B at both ends.
  • the bent-over end portions 105A and 105B are so adapted to one another that when the second end portions 105B are accommodated in the first end portions 105A, the result is the formation of a mounting means 101 which defines an intermediate space between the platelike elements 103A and 103B.

  • the bearing means 109 has to be so configured that the disc 107 can easily be caused to rotate relative to the mounting means 101.
  • the disc 107 is in principle of the same configuration as the disc 7 described above, but reflectors 110 are disposed on both sides of the disc 107 and also have a parallelogram shape.
  • the reflectors 110 preferably have in the circumferential direction of the disc 107 an extent which is smaller than the width of the platelike elements 103A, 103B of the mounting means 101.
  • the disc 107 is preferably so configured that it automatically places itself in a position of rest when it is not subject to any external influence. In this position of rest, the reflectors 110 are masked by the platelike elements 103A, 103B when the device is observed in plan view.
  • the reason why the disc 107 automatically places itself in the position of rest is that the centre of gravity of the disc 107 is not at the centre of the disc 107, so gravitation automatically places the disc 107 in said position of rest.
  • the device according to Figs. 7 and 8 may be installed on a column in a manner substantially corresponding to the embodiment described above.
  • the mounting means 1; 101 is preferably made of aluminium but some other material is also conceivable within the scope of the invention, and plastic seems to be a conceivable material.
